Publisher's summary

A woman on a dangerous mission to a new world.

A warrior sworn to protect her who fears to risk his heart.

Can Whitney and Rafe escape from the giant beings who have captured them?

And will Whitney end up...pairing with her protector?

Dr. Whitney Washington is a Xeno-zoologist living on the Kindred Mother Ship, and she has a big problem - she has a crush on her bodyguard. Unfortunately, the big Beast Kindred who comes with her to dangerous planets to protect her clearly doesn't return her interest...or does he?

Rafe is a warrior with a past - a bad one. He has been hurt before when dealing with females, and he doesn't intend to repeat the experience. But it's hard to ignore Whitney's beauty and bubbly personality. Still, he's determined to try until an unexpected turn in their latest trip to a new planet for research changes everything.

Forced to land on an unknown world, Whitney and Rafe find themselves among a group of feral humanoids who seem to be about as smart as house cats. Soon they are mistaken for pets by the huge aliens who live on the planet and taken into captivity as a "mating pair". But what will happen when Rafe and Whitney actually have to mate in order to escape?

You'll have to listen to Pairing with the Protector to find out....

Loved it

This book was just like listening to an episode of the Twilight Zone; so much imagination went into this story! Great story line and plot; great narration, and likable characters. This is one of my favorite books in the series. Love these Kindred men!

ridiculous even for romance fiction

I listened to several EA books only to find them more ridiculous as the series progresses. I had to give up before the third chapter.
The seemingly intelligent females constantly get themselves into ridiculous situations where the big strong warrior has to save them but not before getting naked ( this time being stripped by a 4 year old child) to be put with other " breeders". that is as far as I got. but I can guess that they will end up having to eat something disgusting and perform sexually in some awkward situations. I could be wrong... thankfully I won't be finding out.

female lead acts like a 14 y/o

Story was interesting up until the end. Whitney basically forces Rafe to bond with her. Then when she realizes he didn't want to be bonded she ignores him, acting like a melodramatic teen. On their way home she makes it clear to Rafe they won't be living together and even plans to not tell him about his children (which really pisses me off). Once she makes it clear she wants nothing to do with him he offers to break their bond so she won't be stuck in a relationship she doesn't want she throws a fit. I HATE people who act like this. Anything Rafe would have said or done would make her mad and act like he was the one being an @$$hole when it was her. This plot development ruined what was otherwise a fun and funny story. I know it's just a story, but I'm seriously pissed off. I don't recommend this book. Whitney is a horrible example of a woman.
