Publisher's Summary

What happens when a boxer finds chemistry with a geek?

Parker Brown can't believe she needs to hire a fake boyfriend. But the head boss prefers to promote employees who are "settled." Thankfully, she's found the perfect candidate, a fellow intellectual looking for some quick cash. What Parker gets is his protective big brother - Rhys Morgan. The tall, muscled ex-boxer with a foul mouth shows up just as her boss does, and now she's stuck with the manipulative jerk.

Responsibility weighs heavily on Rhys. Now permanently out of the ring, he's trying to hold together his late father's gym and keep his younger brother, Dean, on the straight and narrow. To save Dean from himself, Rhys takes his place, ready to give this society girl a piece of his mind. Instead, he finds an opportunity. Even though they can hardly stand each other, posing as Parker's boyfriend is a win-win deal. She gets to keep her job, and he'll charm her star-struck boss into sponsoring his gym.

Problem is, they can barely keep their hands off each other. And what started as an easy deal isn't so easy anymore.

The male narrator RUINED the book

I could only listen to around 10 minutes of this book. The male narrator is HORRENDOUS. His overly done, ridiculously bad accent is borderline criminal. Bostonians, I’d be mad if I were you.
I was really excited to listen to this book as I am a big fan of Kristen’s. This is a huge disappointment for fans of both authors. So much time and effort goes into writing a book. To have it ruined by such a terrible narration is simply not right.
The premise of the story was intriguing and, based on past work, I’ll bet the authors wrote a really good book. I’ll never know. It took so much effort to understand each contrived word, I knew I’d never be able to get into the story.
Please, please do not use this narrator again. What a waste.

Really good story!

I really enjoyed this story a lot, the male narrator took a few chapters to get accustomed but it got a bit better, it just seems overexaggerated Bostonian accent. They are an unlikely couple but I loved it.

Terrible narration by the male

Couldn’t even get through the second chapter, I tried but seriously the male voice was absolutely, unforgivably, horrible! Thank goodness for audible exchange.

The male narrator is ruining it.

The male narrator is so annoying it almost makes you want to give up. the accent he makes is awful the voice he makes for Parker is terrible too.
He is better with voices without accent. Might aswell give up the accent if it makes it that you are unable to listen to it!

Cute

I was nervous about spending a credit on this because of the negative review for the narrators- however I am glad I purchased it. While the male narrator has a strong Boston accent, it led to the credibility of the character. The only thing I agree about the other reviews is that neither narrator were good with the opposite sex’s voice but that’s not unique to these narrators. So if you want an authentic sounding book, then you won’t be disappointed.

I LOVED THIS STORY!!

Reece and Tink (Parker). First the bad. I totally understood the Boston accent and the growling jock voice of Reece, but it was a lot for me to get past. Alex Kidd’s voice, I think, is actually a lot like the way he portrayed Reece, although not quite as “boxer jock” sounding. It took me half the book before I let it go and just listened, accepting his voice, even though I was always totally invested in this story. Kydd’s female voice was worse, but MANY male performers can’t do a female voice. I loved Elizabeth Hart’s performance. All that being said, I absolutely LOVED this book. The characters, the story, ALL of it. The premise of this book seemed just a little different and drew me in immediately. Who the main characters were, where they came from, and what they needed, sucked me in from the very start and I held on for the ride that had me loving them and tearing up at the end. I only wish the story had a final prologue that was set in a few years in the future with Reece teaching his.. maybe 3 year old how to “baby box”. This book is definitely a keeper and I’m so glad I found it.

One of My Favorite Romantic Comedies

Such good writing, character development, and dialogue! Seriously, this audiobook is laugh out out funny, and the chemistry between the two characters is outstanding! I also liked Alex Kydd's Boston accent (despite what other readers' had to say about it). I think he does a great job of impersonating other characters, too (even the females). Highly recommend!

So Bad

I had to DNF this audiobook. Still reading the book though. But the male narrator was so bad. I found myself taken out of the story by his truly awful accent.

Good story and good performances

Kristen Callihan is in my following list of authors and enjoyed this collaboration with Samantha Young on my Kindle. Some negative comments made over the voice performance but IMHO they got it right and the characters of Parker and Reece telling their stories was spot on.
Would recommend this in both written and audio.

accents are tricky

fun! but.... the male narrator was..erm.. rather a challenge to settle into. granted i'm sensitive about accents! i regret listening and I think I would have much preferred to read it. if you're in any way picky about accents, consider yourself warned! im a die-hard kristen callihan lover, too.
