Publisher's Summary

Return to the series BuzzFeed compared to Ready Player One in the second book in a new fast-paced trilogy from New York Times best-selling authors Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller that's perfect for fans of HBO's Westworld.

Simon would have done anything to save his best friend after a mysterious accident almost killed her - including follow her into a virtual world. And what he and Kat discovered there was more terrifying than they could have ever imagined. Unwitting hospital patients are being forced to test a device that lets VR be experienced with all five senses. The technology is so advanced that it's deadly.

Now the world's biggest tech corporation is hunting Simon and Kat while war rages in Otherworld, the virtual world it created. Determined to destroy the Company, Simon and Kat must join forces with a hacker, a gangster, and a digital entity. But as they battle to save two worlds, they uncover an all-new threat to our world: the Company's latest creation, an augmented-reality game called OtherEarth. Not only does OtherEarth kill, it has the power to erase the line between what's real and what's fantasy.

Is the third book out yet?

This series is fantastic for every age - forget the YA distinction! I love when authors read their own books because it truly transports you to the world they've created. Jason Segel definitely did not disappoint. The worst part was when it ended because I want more!

Ugh

The twist sucked. I’m not happy with this at all. The first book was so much better.

Book 3 Please!

This book was really good! I loved the characters, I loved the plot, and I'm still confused by the ending (in a good way)! There was such a cliffhanger at the end of this book and I can't wait to go get book three!

But is it...real?!

That ending though! OMG! I seriously had this downloaded and ready to go before I finished Otherworld. I knew this was a book I'd need and I didn't waste any time queuing it up. That being said I am so freaking in love with this world. Or earth. Or Otherworld...earth? I have no idea. I am just completely consumed, I do know that. I would say it's a world I'd want to visit, but no. No I do not want to live in this virtual reality world where you don't know what's real and what's not. Seriously. Is it happening? Is it real? What is going on? I didn't feel like this the entire time, mind you. I think that's important. I was going along, thinking Simon was gonna save Otherworld and come out a winner. But by the time the ending jumped out and attacked me, I wasn't sure which way was up. I didn't know what was real. I didn't know what was virtual. I need book three right now. I know I can read it, but I really want Jason Segel to read it to me. So, I'm impatiently waiting for Feb 18 when that audio hits my phone.

WTF was that ending.

I loved the first book in the series and also enjoyed this one for the most part. I loved the world the authors have created with a complex plot and characters. However the twist at the ending was more confusing that shocking that I imagine it's what the authors were going for.

That's it?

While I liked the thriller mode of the story, ending a book on a cliffhanger without at least a preview of the next book or at least a synopsis of what's to come is a real let down. I was unaware this book was part of a trilogy and heard it first.

Stunning continuation of an amazing series

As always adored the narrator. I think I still like book one more than book two. there is definitely a 3rd book because it is on a cliffhanger
