Publisher's summary

Army veteran Catherine Daye long ago accepted her passable looks, mediocre talent, and average intelligence. In fact, she bought a rundown farm on 70 acres to retreat from the world and live out her simple, ordinary life. Atlanta marketing superstar Autumn Swan’s world is anything but simple. Constantly plugged in to what’s trending on social media, it’s her job to keep her clients ahead of the competition. When her favorite cousin dies suddenly, she finds herself the owner of a modest country home, guardian to a sullen, tomboyish 10-year-old, and neighbor to an intriguing woman who isn’t as ordinary as she appears.

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised.

I have thought long and hard about this review. There are so many aspects of the book to touch on that I hope to get them all on my first attempt at writing this review. If not expect to see this edited in the future. : D

I like the fact that it pairs up a military veteran with a millenial. This is a real potential relationship for this day and age. Both see life from different points of view and it is really hard to understand the other's and it is really important to give the other person a moment to play out their hand without jumping to a preconceived notion. I think this was an important topic to tackle, because it is so prevalent in our society.

Then there is the point of view from the veteran and some of the issues with dealing with PTSD. As a veteran who suffers from PTSD this was depicted better than I expected. I know the author spent some time around Fort Bragg, so I feel her exposure to the soldiers in theat community helped her paint the pictures of this issue rather well. So, Bravo, well done.

Now, the saucy parts ... HOLY WOW! I had to go take a cold shower. I am not sure how much more I can say. That pretty much describes it rather well.

I felt the story line was great. Awesome build up of the characters, the story, and then through the finish. I have never read a romance novel before, but I was impressed. The book was more than the sexy scenes. This has some depth and lessons that will leave you thinking about the book long after you put it down.

Had so much potential

The story is too disconnected. The story makes sense but there are not enough transitions, so you struggle to figure out what is going on.

Love the realism.

I love how this book depicts situations that could actually happen. The storyline was very entertaining and I love how it highlighted some of the struggles vets go through. I am so glad I read this book.

Disappointed

The premise of this book looked really good, but I was very disappointed in the characters. The one comes across as a mature military person, the other sounds like a 13 yrs old. This comes off sounding like a messed up relationship.

Sweet

Oh why not just go with the implausible plot and enjoy the ride? More wholesome characters than most of the genre though as usual erotica is dished up aplenty.

Good, Ending Somewhat Rough

Narrator was strong. However, the conclusion was kind of quick with the action jumpy. Seemed kind of slow moving then barrels towards end.

Loved it. The story kept me interested the entire time and the narration was stellar. I will listen to this one again. I will listen to more stories by this narrator.

Perfect!

What was perfect by this book, was that the main characters were not at all perfect. They had their shortcomings, and I liked that. Only thing that was a bit strange, was that nearly all people turned out to be gay. The main characters, of course, but also the young girl, the doctor and the woman who was hired by one of the characters. That seemed unrealistic.

Loved it.

Think this is my favorite D. Jackson Leigh story yet. I loved the utopian life style undertones. The relationship between all characters were believe able and the definitions family was perfect. Hollis did a fantastic job narrating.
