Touched my heart. Characters are well developed and one forgets they are listening as you become part of the story.

Really enjoyed this book!! Felt like the characters had become my friends and could easily been folks from my own little town. I thought the narration was very good. The narrator portrayed the characters well and brought them to life for me.
I saw so many things in this story. Sibling love, parenting skills, the importance of a the trusted adult in kids lives. The influence of a village on its youth.. The difficulty of trying to put a broken family back together and the comfort found in faith.
Highly recommend this book.

This book kept me interested and wanting more.

This book vividly recreates the childhood of those who grew up before cell phones, video games, and helicopter moms. Summer was a long adventure, bikes providing the freedom to travel the town, parents unaware of the precarious situations their children face while hurtling into adulthood. The novel is told from the perspective of a 13 year old boy, yet the perspectives of all the characters are brought to life. The story is about the fundamentals of life we all struggle with: death, guilt, questioning the existence of god, love and forgiveness. I have not had the pleasure of reading (listening) to a book of this caliber in years.

OUTSTANDING!

Story was good, thought provoking, somewhat predictable, author comments at the end an extra plus.
