Do Not Purchase I want a refund!

This book is read in a monotone voice and repeats well know information about Oprah and her journey. I feel like this person just used Oprah's name to make a quick buck. I hate I fell for it.🤬

Very good book, very poor performance

When listening to audible, a person needs to enjoy the experience. Reading a book is not the same as listening to the book. The information is the same but the presentation is auditory. The presentation was very poor because the voice was annoying. Her voice was monotone. It was hard to enjoy the Audible because the voice is hard to listen to.
I would use a different reader with a soothing voice that fluctuates. I would re-record the same book.. Then I would give it 5 stars.

Disappointing

After having finished 2 previous books by Oprah, I was excited to try this one. I was very disappointed that it was not Oprah telling the story, or “reading” the book, rather a very unemotional younger lady who was less than energetic about it. A lot of repetitive information. Was a disappointment to me.

The worst reader

The narrator is very bad, i can detect her tone in every sentence - monotone.
The story is actually better

Enjoyed the storyline

Thank you for this! My feedback would be that I wish the life lessons section was longer and more elaborate (including stories of their life struggle) and that it included summary of their daily routine so that others can understand what a successful and influential persons daily routine looks like and learn more that. Thank you 🙏

Unsatisfactory

Narrator sounded robotic, and the overall story just seemed like it was tabloid gossip. I was not at all impressed!

An hour that I can’t get back

It’s Oprah’s story so it gets 5 stars. I was expecting more of Oprah’s lessons in life and how they transformed her, but instead this book is a short biography, presented as a textbook with chapter summaries. I found the narrator’s mispronunciation of “Celie” and “Beloved” reprehensible. (Yes, I said reprehensible). Someone did not do her homework in keeping one engaged through narration as it had no feeling and was monotone.

Big potential that was not used

The narrative part of the book is of a very low quality, with weird pauses in sentences and overall spoken accent which is influencing user’s experience. There is a summary after chapters that are very repetitive of what has been already said, so is the last chapter. It is a good try and Oprah’s story makes it still interesting but in my opinion, the concept and Oprah’s life itself would deserve more thought.

Disappointing

This read like Oprah’s CV. It does not contain any insights that one might apply to their own life or pursuit of success. If you are looking for a short summary of the highlights of Oprah’s life, Google Oprah, read her Wikipedia entry or read this book.

An interesting listen

A summary of Oprah's life, achievements and humanitarian work. Succint, yet well presented. Enjoyed it.

Good story, dull narration

I really enjoyed the story about Oprah, her life’s story and her achievements. The narrator has a nice voice, but dull and monotone intonation, the book would gain much more if it’s narrated by someone who knows to tell a story, and not as if it’s read (even though it is read).
