I loved it

It’s a very good series. Such a good story line and characters between all the books.

Prudhoe Bay and the rigs

One of the things I've enjoyed with all the books set in Alaska that I've listened to is the Alaska setting itself. This is the first one that was set in the extreme north of Alaska, Prudhoe Bay which is known for all the oil taken out of here. The weather is an issue, the main issue, in all of Alaska. It doesn't get any more extreme than here. It was good hearing the description of life on the oil rigs and in Prudhoe Bay and Deadhorse, a town near Prudhoe Bay.

I have a friend that worked for Alaska Airlines that worked the Prudhoe Bay airport. One flight in, one flight out a day. All flights went through Anchorage. Two weeks on two weeks off, my friend liked the two weeks off. She stayed in an efficiency apartment on the second floor of the airport. She never left the airport when she was there.

Into this environment Sadie is sent to investigate a murder. It quickly turns into multiple murders; Scotland Yard gets involved. Most of the books in the series are around 6 hours long which doesn't leave a lot of time for lengthy investigations', so Sadie and crew seem to get right to finding the culprits and working the case. At time it seems more plot and character development might be in orders, but they are still good stories.

One of the things missing in this book is Sadie trying to find out what happened to her sister. Prudhoe Bay is so distant from Anchorage there was nothing to be done. The sister is mentioned in the book but no progress other than Sheriff Cooper and Sadie trying to decipher a map her dad left her before he died, the map search right at the end of the book.
