Publisher's summary

Re-released in a second edition with new content.

Stefan Talbot likes order and control. He approaches his life with the same meticulous precision that he uses to put paint on his canvas. Nothing good comes from chaos, and that is why he has refused to allow himself to get close to Jennifer Waters. They are like fire and ice. Though she is younger, her talent as an artist is unquestionable. But she lives her life like she paints - with wild, passionate abandon. It is intoxicating and terrifying, and he can’t get her out of his head.

Jennifer ran from Bliss to put Stef behind her. She had come to the mountain town seeking a mentor, but found much more than she bargained for. Cool and distant, Stef was like a marble statue, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t break through his shell. She moved to Dallas to start over, but nothing is going as planned.

When the art gallery where she works is robbed and a precious painting is stolen, Jen is accused of the theft. Jen is thrilled when her bail is met, until she realizes her savior is Stef, and he has a few conditions. First and foremost, she has to return to Bliss.

Against the backdrop of the Winter Festival, Stef and Jen’s attraction catches fire. But the dark forces behind the robbery in Dallas have followed Jen home. A criminal syndicate believes she still has the stolen painting, and they’ll kill to get their hands on it.

Good Narration; Secondary Characters Were More Ent

This book had several funny moments. This is the first book I listened to in the series.

Stefan and Jen were not my favorite characters. They were ok, but the secondary characters were much more entertaining. Alexi, Rachel, Max, Rye, the doctor, Holly, Stella, etc., almost everyone else was interesting and enjoyable.

Stefan was overbearing, and Jen was blah. Although she had left Stefan, she seemed kind of desperate to me.

The narration was good. Having read the Masters and Mercenaries series, I recognized Ian Taggart's character. I have Ryan West's voice in my head as Ian, so it threw me off a little, lol.

There was humor, romance, action, suspense, and steamy scenes. I would give this book 3.5 stars.

Jen and Steph

I absolutely love this book. Lexi did a wonderful job with the king of bliss and his HEA. I like the add on to the story that gives a little more background into our favorite Russians and the good Dr of bless.

great story!

I enjoyed the story! I listen as I'm doing dishes, cleaning etc and the story was easy enough to follow without giving it 100% attention but engrossed you at the same time

Good story but frustrating inconsistencies

Chapter 2 Steph recalls Meeting Jen when she was fresh out of college (HS grad at 18 plus 4 yrs. of college- that makes her 22, so maybe he got it wrong but the added 18months of residence at Bliss, puts her at 23+ but you still have an added 6 months, and 23 doesn’t add up). Furthermore, even if he got her age wrong, he can’t be dumb and not know he’s 32! Steph remained 32 (and I’m sure he knows his age lol) for 24 months (18+6 months). Where do I get this? He was in love with her for a minimum of “18 months” that Jen had been town. Chapter 8 Steph says that “she’d been the brattiest kid that he’d met in a year and a half”. Then Jen (after Steph’s continued rejection)left for Dallas for six months. So how is she STILL 23 and he STILL 32?
As if that’s not annoying enough Steph’s father, Sebastian, comes back to town to proclaim his undying, never ceasing love for Stella (town badass nurturer). They had fallen in love and had an affair prior to marrying Steph’s mom. How long ago would that be? At the minimum, 33 years (given they keep on saying Steph is still 32). Add 9 months and time for courting I graciously said 33. Not according to Chapter 17. He proclaims his undying love in the middle of the diner and Jen states, “if Sebastian could come to his senses after all these years...not that she planned on letting nearly 30 years go by...”
If I got this wrong, please enlighten me. Otherwise, it’s simple math Ms. Blake and editor(s), simple math. SMH.
I’d like to see smarter heroines. When a mobster asks are you Jennifer, after your friend slips out your shortened name (Jen) why not say no, I’m Jen. SMH
The story was entertaining but it was unsettling and annoying because it happened throughout the ENTIRE book.

Next up is Laura an FBI agent who goes to Bliss after working in the field for years. Maybe she’ll only be 23 as well 🤣. FBI Agents are intelligent and have gone through rigorous training. We shall see.

I might skip to Holly after this book because the Russian mobster, Alexiie, is interested in Holly and a love triangle (Doc., Mob, and gutsy Holly) should be interesting😉

Too easy forgiveness. Is it deserved?

The main characters aren't the problem so much with this, but side characters are. Maybe I am a stubborn bitch, but how the hell can she forgive decades so easily? I think I am still angry for her. I guess it is a good story if I am so into it that I get so angry for the characters. The performance was great and I enjoyed the main characters story. I think I will be angry for a while though. Stupid men!

Stef is the best!

I really really liked this book! I’m a sucker for a Dom and add in some of my favorite characters from Masters and Mercenaries.. I’m hooked! This town is my favorite since Pappion, I don’t know which came first but Lexi Blake does small towns like no other! So fun and I can’t wait until the next.

Sublime, Amazing Audiobook!

“One to Keep” is definitely a keeper and worth more than a credit! Excellent narration even with the Russian accents for both Kitty Bang and Lee Samuels. Kitty Bang does a bang up job with her British accent, too! I am a huge fan now and have been searching for more Lee Samuels’ narrations. His voice is sexy smooth like Christian Fox and Jacob Morgan.

The romance made my stomach swirl in delight and pang in sadness for the main characters. Curious what will become of Alexei and Holly. The sex scenes were hot with the BDSM to boot.

Enjoyed the suspense a great deal. Couldn’t turn the audiobook off because I was on my toes.

The fish out of water humor with Alexei made me chuckle loudly on so many occasions.

I did find some of the “dumb ass” or “pervie” terms more suitable for Gen Xers in their 20’s in the 1980’s. It doesn’t seem to work for current verbiage in 2020 for millennials or Gen Z. It kind of shows me that Lexi Blake’s language could be a bit outdated.

I did laugh a bit too much with the 3rd act standoff and the characters professing their love during the standoff. I also thought Rachel was a bit too ridiculous with not getting to the point of Jennifer being in trouble.

Otherwise, truly an amazing journey, excellent story, with an amazing cast of characters. I highly recommend!!
