Publisher's summary

Dear Diary,

I know three things:

1. I didn't kill anyone.

2. Mack Montgomery is a troublemaker.

3. I am running out of time.

You've got to believe me, Diary. I didn't have anything to do with those murders, I promise you. For crying out loud, I'm the only person in this tiny Texas town who doesn't own a gun! But I can't help feeling like someone is out to get me. The only question is who, and why.

While we're at it, let's get one other thing straight. None of this would have happened if it weren't for the shadow called Mack Montgomery. That man may be hot-as-sin and the talk of the high school reunion, but let me tell you one thing. He is up to something, Diary. He is so full of questions, yet somehow, I can't seem to find one single answer. One second he's breaking into my house and accusing me of murder, and the next, he's turned those soft baby blues on me, making my stomach do all sorts of somersaults.

I'm running low on time, Diary. If I can't find the murderer, and if Mack Montgomery doesn't go back to where he belongs, I'm afraid that my one little wish may never come true.

Xoxo,

Scarlett

One Little Wish is a full-length, southern cozy mystery with a strong female protagonist and a hot-as-sin hero.

Note: This book can be heard as a standalone, though it is part of a larger mystery series. It is rated PG-13 for some mild language. No graphic gore or sex, but there is some kissing; you've been warned.

Great beginning

This story captured me at the beginning. I was excited about getting started on a new series. Those hopes were dashed by a descent into endlessly bad writing, contrived and predictable storyline, dull intrigue and a not bad conclusion. The narrator attempted to use voice inflection to put interest into a dying dialog. However, she was not good enough to resuscitate lifeless words the author had inexpertly chosen.

Cute, Funny and a mystery to boot

If you could sum up One Little Wish in three words, what would they be?

Fresh Murder Mystery

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the author's humor. It made this murder mystery fun and fresh. The characters were enjoyable as well. Author Gina LaManna created a wonderful small town community feel of Luck, Texas.

Which character – as performed by Laurel Schroeder – was your favorite?

Loved Tiny and 'The Girls'. Comedic timing was a off though. Overall, Ms. Schroeder's performance was wonderful. Her narration fit perfectly for the reading/journaling in the diary. Unfortunately, her performance didn't change a whole lot from the journaling in the diary to the actual story. So the cadence kind of felt a little off. Kind of the same throughout. This was felt in the delivery of the humorous dialog. They fell flat and didn't really work, but the listener got the idea. Comedic timing/cadence was the only reason I didn't rate Ms. Schroeder's narration a five star. I thought she handled the multitude of male/female characters perfectly.

Loved from beginning to end.

I loved the characters in this story. The plot was interesting and kept me wanting to know what would happen next. The narrators voice did well to pull the characters together in this town.

Hard For Me To Get Into

I got this book via audiobook boom. This story was hard for me to get into. Most of it was told through her diary entries. Just when she thought she was going to win then something else happens like oh say a dead body, She talks to her diary as if she is talking to a person. Not sure if I am a fan of this type of story. The narration was ok.

Charmingly different

Would you consider the audio edition of One Little Wish to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed the characters and the way the cane to life through narration

What did you like best about this story?

It was different in the way it was told

What does Laurel Schroeder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She adds the southern charm to it with her narration. She did an excellent job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was amused at how everything develops

Any additional comments?

This book is told about half the time from the heroine Scarlett writing in her diary. She is a sweetheart and the best example of souther politeness. Despite that she ends up in a topsy turvy reality where gossip rules and every time she thinks it can't get any worse it does. Along the way she rekindled an old romance, and the interactions between Mac and Scarlett are awesome. Definitely entertaining and a recommend. Unique Suspenseful Romance

The narrador did a great job bringing the story to life. I really enjoyed listening to her. There are journal entries describing the main character thoughts and ideas throughout the book.

Scarlett is a simple country girl that lives in a small town with people that don't think much of her because of her family roots. The only man she ever loved took off ten years ago without so much as a good bye.

There is a lot going on in the story. Her best friend is coming to visit, a ten year reunion, and the last person she expected to see stops her in the middle of the road and asks her out. Also, People are dying and all the fingers are pointed at her.

I did enjoy the conclusion and how things wrapped up. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. There are no cliffhangers.

Great Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Little Things Mystery series written by Gina LaManna and narrated by Laurel Schroeder. Scarlett is using her diary to reveal her feelings and thoughts. Scarlett has lived in Luck, Texas all her life and everyone is coming to town for their ten year reunion. Mack Montgomery, is the love of Scarlett’s life who left her 10 years ago who she hasn’t gotten over. When Scarlett finds a dead body, everything starts to go downhill.

The narrator Laurel Schroeder did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Not too bad once I got to know Scarlett a little

Would you listen to One Little Wish again? Why?

It was a good book but I think once is enough for me. I don't often listen to books more than once unless I really love them or need to remember things from them.

What does Laurel Schroeder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I don't have a lot of time to read so listening to books allows me to "read" more. Laurel was easy to listen to

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A mystery with the town people and their small time life.....
