In this portal fantasy, an accountant reincarnated as a fae assassin must battle, barter, and grind to survive in a world filled with magical dangers.
When forensic accountant SJ is crushed by a rogue tree on her way home from the local pub, her death is as absurd as it is abrupt. But fate has a twisted sense of humour: instead of being sentenced to eternal oblivion, SJ's reborn in Amathera—a vibrant fantasy landscape full of magic, monsters, and a game-like System that really wishes she hadn't read the fine print.
Armed with her sassy and overly sarcastic AI companion, Dave, and the questionable skills of a fae assassin, SJ is thrust into this mystical new world. But there's one problem: she never agreed to the terms and conditions, and now she's the one person operating completely free of the System's rules. Drawing the attention of local gods, dragons, and everything in between, she's destined to become an Amatherean celebrity.
With oddities such as high-level enemies and unique gear drops at every turn, finding her footing will be no easy task in this place where reputation matters. SJ will need Dave's guidance if she wants to level up and survive the challenges thrown her way. Only then can she help the inhabitants of her quaint starter town of Killic and begin to uncover the complex mysteries of Amathera.
And as outside pressures mount, SJ's starting to realize her death was only the first glitch in the System . . .

I gave it 5 stars because it's technically what the author intended and is well written as such. Just personally I can't stand the annoying AI. everything else is great.
I can't listen to Dave anymore

the MC never feels OP and makes and learns from plenty of mistakes. there is good laughs and danger and you feel like there's stakes involved.
Rebecca Woods gives a great narration and makes the characters come alive.
all in all great story and I'm excited for the next audiobook

The most unrealistic part is her super basic intelligence makes her somehow a genius compared to all other reborn. Apparently shes the first to do all sorts of stuff that anyone else would.
I gets ridiculously stupid how common the stuff she does that her AI treats as world shattering. It's not even the stuff that every gamer would do. Its basic stuff anyone would do.
Like own property, if you do at level 10 you can get a home portal. Yet people who can live for hundreds of years apparently never get a home? really? but level 5 SJ does the super rare thing of getting a property deed.
Really? Because any gamer even noobs all LOVE player housing and would be getting homes. Let alone random every day reborns.
The book is filled with this nonsense.
Now if you can ignore the whole shes the chosen one for making basic logical choices unlike all the apparent 2 brain cell others. Then the book and progress is fun and entertaining, worth a read.
SJ is a bit slow
