Funny and Funny!!!

What a great book to keep you entertained, yet engaged as each chapter builds its mysterious cliff hanger. The narrator is so perfect for the story. She is articulate and has the right tone for each character. Bravo on this selection.

Witty, funny, engaging, light mystery....what more could I ask for!

I loved it!

This book was just great fun. The reader was wonderful, slipping easily in and out of characters and the mystery element kept me going. Jane Stanton Hitchcock has a real feel for upper crust New York society, the older money, the jockeying for position. If it was not a perfectly constructed tale, it was one of those times you really didn't care because the ride was so fun. I'm getting another of her books now.

Loved this book!

This book got me hooked on reading all the rest of Jane Stanton Hitchcock's books. I certainly don't fly in the high society world that Jo Slater does, and I have no idea how true it is, but I found the characters engaging and the suspense intriguing. Barbara Rosenblatt is an entertaining reader.

entertaining summer listen

Sassy, funny entertatining and suspenseful, this high-society mystery-thriller will keep you interested without demanding too much concentration. Perfect for road trips, poolside or cardio. Long, but not boring at all.

Loved it!!

The story was great and the narrator knocked it out of the park. I can see these books as a screenplay and I do wish there were more.

Neat Story

i though it was a classy story involving a good mystery and a glance into the realm of the 'upper crust' cast of characters with their 'behind the facade' personalities, issues & behaviors. Frankly i hope Mrs. Hitchcock will write many more and have them all narrated again by my favorite voice, Ms. Rosenblat.

One Classy Author

I read Ms. Hitchcock's most recent book, Mortal Friends, first and enjoyed it so much that I went back and read all of her books. This book follows Social Crimes and it's best -- but not necessary -- to read that before One Dangerous Lady. I loved learning about the New York social scene, which is presented in a way that isn't all about designer labels and wretched excess. Rather, there is much focus on eleemosynary activities. The murder mystery has myriad twists and turns, keeping the reader up late at night turning pages. The characters are very well-developed and I really cared what happened to most of them.

Worth it!

This is a modern mystery novel that is much better than most. This is not a classic, but the writer avoids about every pitfall that I find annoying and distracting in this genre. It was a very good, enjoyable read. The narrator is a witty, interesting, and believable character. This is not a thrill ride, but an enjoyable cart ride, with just a bit of tension and quite a lot of humor. The reader was excellent, adding to my enjoyment.
