Publisher's summary

Separated by prideful airs and prejudiced assumptions, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are convinced they will never see the other again…until 11 years later; fate sets them both on a different course.

Elizabeth Bennet

After receiving the most insulting proposal imaginable from Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet vows to loathe him for all eternity. Years later, now a widowed duchess and raising her son, the Duke of Grafton, Elizabeth embarks on an adventure with her son and father to the West Indies.

Fitzwilliam Darcy

After enduring a scathing condemnation of his character by the only woman he would ever love, Mr. Darcy decides he must disappear from society. With the help of his cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Darcy secures a ship and crew and sets sail on the open seas. Mr. Darcy’s life takes such a turn that even his closest relative would not recognize him or his new identity as Max Sterling, captain of the Absolution.

When the pirates of the Absolution attack the Duchess’ ship, Captain Sterling receives the shock of his life when he spots the beautiful duchess and realizes that they share a connection, albeit one that was abandoned 11 years ago….

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Please read before purchasing this book. This book is written for mature audiences. This is a "what if" book. It is not Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. This story is not cannon. The best Pride and Prejudice Retelling!

Wow!! Amy Cecil has an amazing, and an original writing. She never disappoints, and she always exceeds my expectations. This is the best Pride and Prejudice retelling I ever read / listen. In fact, this is the first time I can say I truly loved Elizabeth and Darcy's story. Captain Max Sterling (Darcy) is handsome, strong, and caring. Elizabeth is beautiful, sassy, and stubborn. She is a wonderful Mom. Her son, Thomas, is a formidable child. The supporting characters are also great. I like Elizabeth's Father. The world building is captivating, and the scenery is well described. The storyline is original, intriguing, romantic, and beautiful. This is an amazing adventure. I love all about this story. Marina Barrett did an outstanding job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice, very pleasant to listen to. The characters were easy to distinguish. I LOVED it, and I HIGHLY recommend it. This is one of my favorite audiobooks. #AudiobookObsession

On Stranger Prides

I love listening to books with this era and have to say that this book definitely did not disappoint. A misunderstanding leads to some drastic reactions to the point that fate has to take over and make their paths cross again. I really enjoyed this book and loved the narration.

An Alternate Ending To A Classic Tale

I was given a free copy of this title and promised to give an honest review.
I thought the story was good, but I wish the characters were anyone other than Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam D'Arcy. I like a good romance wrapped in a pirate story but I couldn't see those beloved characters in this particular role. The narration was excellent.

Great reader!

A good reader makes or breaks a book and the reader on this book is great! She changed her voice enough to distinish characters but it was never distracting. She made me want to keep listening all night!

Fall in love with Mr Darcy all over again!

Better then the original! I just loved this version. I loved Elizabeth’s protective side as a mother. I loved Max’s (Mr Darcy’s) carefree side. What a wonderful ride Amy Cecil has taken us on in this what if version of the story. I can’t wait to see how she finishes it.
Marina Barrett as always is freaking brilliant. She is exceptional as Tommy and I she really brought out the playful side of Max. Well done!

Great mature story

This was a great story with little angst. It was written in chapters from Darcy POV and Elizabeth POV. Good Jaff

Loved it every minute of it

On Stranger Prides is a fantastic rendition of a beloved classic novel, Pride and Prejudice. Amy Cecil has brilliantly composed her version, which I enjoyed as much as the original. This is one of those novels that I'll be listening to more than a few times. Her depiction of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam D'Arcy is fabulous and impeccable for the basis of the storyline. The premise is utterly entertaining and intriguing, imbedded in a pirate romance. Despite the events playing out differently, the concept of pride, prejudice, and character growth is apparent.

A stellar performance by Marina Barrett. By emulating the characters' personalities, emotions, and moods, she brought the entirety of the story to life. On Stranger Prides is a well-written novel with quality plot and narration, which I strongly recommend. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook, and my unbiased review is voluntarily given.
