Being a nanny for a newly single dad wasn’t the job I applied for when I decided to lick my wounds in Blossom Peak.

But showing Henley Clark my bare backside wasn’t in my plans either.

When the pursuit of my dream career seemed unattainable, instead of going home and proving my parents right, I made a detour to the small mountain town I remember visiting as a kid.

I just wanted a waitressing job to make some extra money while I figured out my next steps.

But then the lumberjack of an owner begged me to help him with his three month-old daughter that he just found out existed, and I couldn’t resist his plea.

Or his massive physique—the one I saw every detail of when he appeared shirtless in front of me three times in the first week.

The problem with living together though is there’s little space, especially when my boss is so closed off that he’s like a nut I want to crack open.

And when I do, he steals the breath from my lungs—and reignites my creativity as well.

But I gave myself a deadline to figure out what’s next.

Nowhere in that plan though did I account for falling for Henley Clark.

Turns out the heart doesn’t care, even when you’re on borrowed time.

This heart-warming, single parent, sexy, emotional, and swoon-worthy love story will take you on an unforgettable adventure that is sure to leave you beyond happy and your heart full. I LOVED Elodie & Henley. On Borrowed Time is hopeful, heartbreaking and uplifting. It has ALL the feels and more to make one amazing story.
Vanessa Edwin & Connor Crais are remarkable bringing the characters to life. They do more than giving their characters their voices, they fall into the roles giving us all of the emotions with the perfect inflections. I HIGHLY recommend that you read the book and if you like audiobooks, add this one to your wishlist!! You won’t be disappointed.

There is just something special about Harlow James’ writing. She draws you with humor, fun banter, and most of all pulling emotions out of you. On Borrowed Time is no different. Henley & Elodie find themselves at a crossroads. Henley being an instant dad & Elodie figuring out what to do with her music. Henley hires Elodie to be his nanny. There is an instant attraction but they keep things professional.

The character growth was written so well. Especially with Henley. He starts as this grump content with his life, but Elodie & his daughter Remy make him realize that there is so much more than the life he was living. I adored Elodie. She was strong, sweet, & loving. The perfect sunshine to Henley’s grump. The slow burn was done perfectly. Building their relationship as professionals to friends then to lovers.

Harlow has such a talent of the found family trope. Making you just not only fall in love with the main characters but the side characters as well. You get invested in all their stories and making you excited for who is going to be next in the series

The audiobook narrated in duet by Connor Crais & Vanessa Edwin was incredible. They captured Henley & Elodie so brilliantly. Connor makes a perfect grump but the vulnerability he brought had me in tears by the end. And Vanessa was made to narrate Elodie. With her soft voice, she captured Elodie’s heart, strength & love. The chemistry between the two was truly amazing.

On Borrowed Time, the second book to the Blossom Peak series, made me laugh and had me in my feels the entire time. A great second book in this new series.

Harlow James, you are amazing! One touching, tender story after another. The one I’ve just read is always my favorite, as are the narrators I’ve just listened to. But it’s actually impossible to pick, since they’re all just about perfect – the characters matched flawlessly with the actors voicing them, and an unexpected, unique but totally comforting and somehow familiar story.

The Carrington Cove Series led us right to Blossom Peak, another place I now want to visit. All This Time, Book 1 in the Blossom Peak Series, was Laney and Fletcher’s story, but we also met the rest of the “boys” – Laney’s brother Rhonan, Elliot and Henley – as well as Dilynne, Henley’s sister and Laney’s best friend. We met their friends and families, visited the Hart Winery, Blossom Beauty, The Sky’s the Limit Ski Lodge & Adventure Park and many of the other businesses in town.

All friends but all at their own stage in life: Dilynne happily single with no one to tell her what to do, Rhonan often-lonely-single-dad, Elliot devastated and bitter after his fiancé’s betrayal. But it’s the big surprise in Henley’s life that leaves us speechless. Love ‘em and leave ‘em, one-night-only, playboy Henley. Neglected by their parents and growing up in foster care, Dilynne takes life as it comes, but Henley is never going to be abandoned again, no one is ever going to leave him; he’s completely closed off – no relationships, ever. But that pesky Meghan must be obsessed with him because she keeps calling. Well, it’s not obsession with Henley but determination to drop off their 3-month-old daughter Remington. She doesn’t want to be a mom.

And that’s where On Borrowed Time begins. No doubt that adorable little girl is his, but he’s not meant to be anyone’s dad. He can’t even say those three little words everyone wants to hear. But the minute he holds her, he’s fierce and protective. She will never feel unloved, unwanted, left behind. He’s unprepared, overwhelmed, terrified to make a mistake. And he still has the Lodge & Adventure Park to run. He already had interviews set up because he needs more help there, too.

Elodie just wants a waitress job for the holiday season in Blossom Peak. Her singer/songwriter career hasn’t taken off and a bad apple rebuffed man tries to ruin any chance she may have in California. Blossom Peak is close to home, but she doesn’t want to go home yet and hear her parents say, “We told you so.” one more time. So it must be Fate – or maybe Cupid – that steps in and has Henley and Elodie collide. Remy calms down in her arms, Elodie’s daycare experience makes her comfortable and Henley’s desperation has her agreeing to be his nanny rather than a waitress at the lodge. Both of them have big reservations, though. He thinks she’s gorgeous but too young for him and what is he doing having those thoughts anyway? He needs a nanny, not a fling. She loves the look of that gorgeous, burly man in flannel but that can only spell trouble. She needs a break, a job, time to gather her thoughts and figure out what to do with the rest of her life. She’s given herself four months and then she’s moving on.

But Fate – or maybe it’s author Harlow James! – has a different idea. Everybody can see the attraction they are denying, Elodie falls in love with that baby instantly, Henley’s calmer than he’s ever been before around Elodie. What about her music dreams, and his resolve to never open up? Leave it to author James – and everyone in Blossom Peak – to nudge, nudge, nudge to make this little family a reality.

On Borrowed Time is warm and sweet and romantic, sexy and steamy, funny and surprising, with serious issues, lots of bumps in the road and lots of fingers crossed that these two wonderful characters get over them smoothly. The superb duet narration by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin as Henley and Elodie will keep you enthralled. Crais’s portrayal of vulnerable, uncertain Henley will have you reaching for a tissue (and his strong, sexy man isn’t bad either). Edwin’s range as always has Elodie believably angry, hurt, uncertain, loving, joyful – and in love. Harlow James has done it again. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to see what happens next in this riveting, satisfying series. I received advance reading and listening copies of On Borrowed Time. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

When Henley ends up as a single dad, basically overnight, he's in dire need of help. When Elodie tries to interview for a position as his ski lodge, he ends up hiring her as his nanny instead. Elodie is only planning on staying a few months so they both know there is an expiration date. But eventually, forced proximity works it's magic and they can't stay away from each other. Henley had a lot of baggage to work through due to his upbringing but I loved seeing him figure it all out. He bonded so easily with Remy and between them and Elodie, they made the sweetest little family.

I loved the relationship that Henley has with his sister. And I love that his friends aren't afraid to call him out on his crap! The banter all throughout it was fantastic. I'm really enjoying this series and can't wait for more.

This was a duet narration by Connor Crais & Vanessa Edwin. I swear, these two are at the top of my favorite narrator pairings. Connor was perfect for the grumpy single dad and Vanessa really shined as Elodie. I loved it.
