During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

What could possibly be “lucky” about addiction? Absolutely nothing, thought Laura McKowen when drinking brought her to her knees. As she puts it, she “kicked and screamed . . . wishing for something - anything - else” to be her issue. The people who got to drink normally, she thought, were so damn lucky. But in the midst of early sobriety, when no longer able to anesthetize her pain and anxiety, she realized that she was actually the lucky one. Lucky to feel her feelings, live honestly, really be with her daughter, change her legacy.

Publisher's summary
In his New York Times best-selling memoir, A Work in Progress, Connor Franta shared his journey from small-town Midwestern boy to full-fledged Internet sensation. Exploring his past with humor and astounding insight, Connor reminded his fans of why they first fell in love with him on YouTube - and revealed to newcomers how he relates to his millions of dedicated followers.
Now, two years later, Connor is ready to bring to light a side of himself he's rarely shown on or off camera. In this diary-like look at his life since A Work in Progress, Connor talks about his battles with clinical depression, social anxiety, self-love, and acceptance; his desire to maintain an authentic self in a world that values shares and likes over true connections; his struggles with love and loss; and his renewed efforts to be in the moment - with others and himself.
Told through short essays, letters to his past and future selves, and poetry, Note to Self is a raw, in-the-moment look at the fascinating interior life of a young creator turning inward in order to move forward.

Blown
This book is for every teenager. Even if you think that teenagers do not have important problems, you are naive. Humans develop their first real problems around that age. Ignoring them will affect you later in life. Sexuality is an essential topic you should figure out yourself, because if you dont you will be confused forever. Depression is a very very serious topic and is actually common (even if you don't believe so). Connor talks about all that, through experience and theory he developed. And let me tell you that he is one of the most down to earth people you will ever hear. He is very very bright and you will actually be surprised by the way he talks about these topics.
You need to here this right now. I loved every second of it and I was very very sad when it ended. I want to hear more of this dude's philosophy. I want to be his apprentice. I want him to just talk and talk and talk to me. About anything. He makes everything so interesting, but gives seriousness when its due. He doesn't take lightly subjects that are actually serious.
You won't regret this.
PS: His voice is very very cute, so you will enjoy a "date" for 2 hours with this hottie.

An excellent depiction of life's raw emotion
What made the experience of listening to Note to Self the most enjoyable?
Let's be honest, I'm not Connor's core audience. I'm an older, generation X gay male who has gone through personal struggles young on in my life. My journey included losing my mother to early onset Alzheimer's and the battle of that started when she was only 47. As she fought the disease, I stood by her side during my 20's, missing out on the common growth of a 20 year old. So, while I cannot relate to the pain of a broken heart of a romantic relationship at this age, I have enough to appreciate how difficult it is to share pain with others. Connor has this incredible gift with words that allows you to feel what it was like in the heart wrenching time and allows you to connect with him.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
As Connor described his relationship ending, you could tell it was genuine. You could still hear the rawness of pain in his voice that no one other than the person who experienced it could do justice. I believe one of Connor's greatest gifts is that he can take his experience and make them feel it too.
Any additional comments?
Great job on this just second book. You sound like a seasoned author already. I look forward to the next one and hope some time you take a stab at fiction. I would love to see what stories you could come up with!

a fan of Con or not - u should read it.
the book is so personal that it only borderlines on names - there's no names. there's a lot of honesty, wonderful and short poems, suggestions, explanations and advices. you need to hear/read the chapter 43 if you're struggling with mental health. I don't like audiobooks, but listening to NTS is like having Connor beside you and listening to him talking to you.
definitely and highly recommended.
to the ones who claim it's all about his break up - it's not.

Like a peak in his mind
I really loved listening to this book, so much so, that I finished it in one evening. Intrigued by it's story and the great way that Connor tells you his feelings, his thoughts, his fears. The way he gives you a small but significant peak into his everyday life and all his struggles. And the way he tries to help you on your path of life by telling you the things he has learned from his own experiences. Reflecting on his past and looking forward into the future, whilst living in the present. This book leaves you with a lot to think about, to reflect upon and to use in your own everyday life. I highly recommend this book for people of all ages, as I think everyone can benefit from listening to this book

Story
Humanitarian, entrepreneur, and content creator Connor Franta first captivated listeners with A Work in Progress, ruminating on his Midwestern roots to his early start as a visionary and online thought-leader. He continued his soul-searching-through-a-broken-heart with Note to Self, challenging listeners - and himself - to ponder the spectrum of humanity and their place within it. Now as Franta approaches 30, life is no less confusing, but he finds this journey endlessly fascinating.

Story
Letting go is not a process that comes naturally to us. In a world that teaches us to cling to what we love at all costs, there is an undeniable art to moving on - and it's one that we are constantly relearning. In this series of honest and poignant essays, Heidi Priebe explores the harsh reality of what it means to let go of the people and situations we love most - often before we are ready to - and how to embrace what comes next.

Story
I’ve been in this life for 50 years, been trying to work out its riddle for 42, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last 35. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me.

Story
Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.
