Story
Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

Marry me for one year. Payment: $1.2 million. Hayden Somerset is convinced the ad is a joke, but he responds anyway because, hello, $1.2 million. He’s broke, living in a tiny apartment with two roommates, and exhausted from praying his ancient car survives just one more week. His skyrocketing rent and crushing student loans aren’t helping either. At this point, there isn’t much Hayden wouldn’t do for that kind of cash.

Story
A night on the town after a long workweek at my family's distillery should include shots and dancing - not a hot kiss with a handsome stranger. I'm straight. At least, that's what I figured until I find myself locking lips with a sexy city boy. Now, all my circuits are going haywire, and the spark that ignites between us makes me even more curious. Unfortunately, I kissed the one man who's off-limits: Cohen Mitchell - the sole surviving heir to the Mitchell Creek distillery, a rival neighbor my family has feuded with for nearly a 100 years.

Story
When the vampire stalking me sent me a letter, I was prepared for my new life with the man I love to get thrown into chaos. But as the days stretch on and nothing happens, I become determined not to allow that monster to rule my life and decide that Marcus and I will move on. We can’t always allow the past to haunt us. If that includes pestering Marcus and harassing my fellow detectives, they’d better learn to love it because I’m not going anywhere, even if they like to remind me I’m the only human working in a department filled with vampires.

You think you know me. That's the way I want it. Making you feel like we know each other - like we could go grab a beer sometime - is part of my job. Maybe the most vital part. It doesn't hurt that I'm easy on the eyes, single at 35, and born richer than sin. My aesthetic matters much more than it should, but all the better for my worthy cause. And it's a worthy cause. I've made an art out of making you feel good, and my influence makes you want to be good. Good like me. You think you know me, but you don't. Everyone has secrets. Mine could cost me everything.

Getting into the vampire-only detective unit was the easy part. What’s going to be more difficult is dealing with my new partner - an ancient vampire who keeps threatening to eat me. The unit has never had a human in it. Marcus - or, as I like to call him: Fangy McFangface - would really prefer to keep it that way. He’s grumpy, short-tempered, and broody, but I have a way with words, and I know he’s starting to like me, even if he swears he’s not.

Being a hit man has its perks, but I never thought getting an accidental mooning by an attractive PI while he’s caught on a fence would be one of them. While it’s not exactly love at first sight, he’s captured my interest and won’t let go. Suddenly, I find myself caught in a game of cat and mouse, determined to attract the attention of Jackson, the PI who should be my enemy. He pretends like he’s not flattered by my flowers and the mentions of my totally-not-fictitious blow-up doll, Randy (or was it Dandy?), but I know better.

Ricardo Torralba and August Morrison don’t agree on much besides the fact that they hate each other. According to Ricardo, August is a spoiled brat who really needs to knock off the sass, once in a while. August insists that Ricardo needs a sense of humor, a good lay, or a well-placed bullet. Maybe all three. Fortunately, the assassin’s profession is a solitary one, and they can go about their lives without getting in each other’s way.

Now that Leland’s decided to give up his life as a hitman and take a walk on the mild side, we’ve been enjoying a simple life of taking down bad guys the legal way. I didn’t know he would be just as reckless as a PI, but it’s not my fault if I happen to enjoy helping him hunt down the occasional criminal. If only I could keep the house from being overrun by Leland’s gun shrine - or stop him from making our cases “more exciting” by terrorizing people into confessing. Overall, life seems perfect, right? Wrong.

Publisher's Summary
Bored senseless in a meeting, Jon McNeill amuses himself with a kinky dating app on his phone. Then the app matches him with another user... who’s six feet away. Suddenly, Jon finds himself on the same page as someone who’s way above his pay grade: millionaire property developer Rick Pierce.
The app isn’t kidding, either. They’re a perfect match. Jon’s a dom, Rick’s a sub, and they both love bondage. Both guys are well into their 40s, know their way around the bedroom, and definitely appreciate a good suit. And the best part? They’re a match outside the bedroom too.
But office relationships aren’t easy to keep a secret. When the truth comes out, Jon is certain he’s about to get fired. Instead, he finds himself tangled up in a much bigger mess.
Contains two men who’ve only dreamed of this kind of sex, literal and figurative sex machines, blindfolds, a sub being punished during a business meeting, enough rope to tangle up a millionaire, and a Golden Girls marathon.

Sexy and funny love story
At first I though it would be more hardcore BDSM in this book, but compared to other books I thought this was fairely light, mostly Jon and Ricks realtionship and sex kink are fokused on the trust it takes for a sub to allow his dom to inflict pain. Was mostly fokused on ropes, sex toys and something that I havnt encontered before; hot wax! At times I though it was a little to much sex, but then again, the app they use to find each other is fokused to find similar people with kinks, but after a while it dials down a bit and it get more fokused on there job and developing there relationship. One of the things I really liked with this book was that they for the most part kept there dom/sub to the bedroom and didnt have it as a full-time thing. Think this was all in all a really good love storie with funny side charachters that constantly made me laught at there friendly banter at the office. Nick were perfect for this book, he got a really sexy voice and a long range of "voices" that made him perfect in this Dom/Sub relationship.

Loved it!
I've read this book many times. Love the story, love the author. Great story of two middle aged guys falling in love, some funny moments, hot sexy times. This is my first full audio book to listen to in 20 years. Nick did a fabulous job with it! The voicing and voice acting were both right on point. I will listen to this one again!

definitely not Safe For Work
Jon is a model maker and his job is going the way of computers so its hard to find work in his field. His company was faltering until Rick's company hired them for all their work. in a boring meeting, Jon logged onto his fetish hookup account to find someone to play with when it pinged that a match was in the room with him and online as well. I thought this was very funny and cool at the same time. I've been in those long boring meetings and could just imagine these men peeking at their phones and the shock on their faces that someone else in that room shared the same kinks. I liked both characters but their backgrounds stayed too much in the background especially Rick's we really never got much on him. I found it strange that Jon still lived with his ex-wife as a roommate but also liked that too. there is a lot of sex in the book. A lot so it is definitely not Safe for Work or public LOL I loved Nick J Russ's narration. He has a sexy voice and the pacing is great. He puts lots of emotion such as sighs, moans, groans and other actions that make the book more three dimensional. If you like older more mature men, real life, some kink, Ds, office affairs and an allover good romance you will like this. I suggest the audio.

Super Sexy!
Nick J. Russo captures these characters so well. I loved his character voices, he has great timing and pacing, and he infuses humor, emotion, and passion into this seamlessly. Nick J. Russo definitely ranks as one of my favorite narrators.
There's a lot I love about this story including that Jon and Rick are in their forties and act like it, are highly attracted to each other, how they express it, and how they grow into their relationship, and the open communication between them. It's not just about the sex - though you really should take note of the Erotica tag - there's a lot of sex. There is also some kink (but it's pretty light all in all) mixed in with a lot of vanilla sex including some rope bondage, a chastity cage, wax play, and even a sex machine all coming in to play.
It's interesting to me how the audio highlights some of the more day-to-day minutiae that I didn't really notice when rocketing through reading, which made this sometimes a little "c'mon, c'mon!" while listening. Also, told from Jon's single POV, I really would have loved to have gotten Rick's POV too. It's even more pronounced when listening to the story and I would have happily done with fewer sex scenes if I could have had some more of Jon and Rick interacting.
All in all though, this is my favorite L.A. Witt story and the narration is the perfect cherry on a sundae. It's a passionate listen - but maybe heed the title and be careful listening to this at work - unless you work alone.

Frustration, but the bad kind.
The setup is good. Then the main characters start talking. The “Dom” character has roughly a half dozen conversations with his sub, saying essentially, “I don’t know, what do *you* like?” and I cannot take it. There has been zero dom/sub interaction and I’m at the end of chapter 5 (audio chapter label) and the 3rd sexual encounter. There has been no interaction that has been in any way distinguishable from just two people having basic sexual encounters. The so called sub even took the lead in encounter one. That would be fine if the dom character wasn’t going on and on and on in his head about how he’s a dom & if he hadn’t found a sub on a fetish app. But he did do that and he just asked the sub yet another vague decision making question that got on my very last nerve. I’m all for people working up to more specific fetishes but this is not that. It’s not a preference question. A new dom would be asking if a sub liked this or that act, not asking “what do you wanna do now?” Also, cal king mattresses are not wider than standard king mattresses. They are longer, but narrower. Steam: None for me because the dynamic was all wrong and I gave up. There’s some extremely basic M/M sex on page in the first few chapters Narration: nothing wrong with the audio quality. In fact, kudos for being able to read the book without growling for the wrong reasons.

I read the book first on kindle and loved it sounds I went for the audible book as well and I am NOT disappointed! Story; well thought out and the other characters really interact well with the main ones. The funny interactions in the zone were hilarious! Narrator; really enjoyed their take on the book and the different aspects of each character so they didn't blend into one. overall will be listening to it again and so glad I have both!

as great as the ebook
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Nick J Russo is one of the top 5 narrators for me, I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review. PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!! To my ratings: 5* - very very good it's like an A+ 4* - very good and will be often re-listening it's like an A 3* - it's more then a one-time-listening. it's like a B

AMAZING
Narration: 5★ Story: 5★ Execution: 5★ L.A. Witt never fails to amaze me. This is the first BDSM book I`ve read from her and boy, it`s a-m-a-z-i-n-g! The characters are very believable, they evolve as a person and as a couple. The drama is well done and not OTP or too melodramatic. The scenes are hot and what I most like about the book was the communication between the MC's. They talk about EVERTHING. Before, during and after the scenes. It`s refreshing really. Another thumbs up it's the kinkiness was only in the bedroom, which I can appreciate. The conversations in the office was hilarious, I love the good banter they have. Narration wise was flawless, but I think I'm biased because I love Nick J. Russo narration so there is that. I always find fascinating how he can change his voice into something so different, it's almost like another person entirely.

Not for me
Sadly, this book didn't work for me. I'm not quite sure why, I just didn't connect with Rick at all and found myself not caring what happened. LA Witt is a wonderful writer and I've loved so many of her books so I would certainly not let this book not working for me turn you off. The narrator did a fantastic job!
