Resumen del Editor

Three's a disaster when things come unraveled.

Rock star Nate Keller is on top of the world, but his headlining tour has one drawback. It keeps him away from his boyfriends, Theo and Cameron, for weeks at a time. Yet after four-and-a-half years-and a lot of hard work-the trio is still going strong.

But then Cam comes to visit with devastating news. After seventeen years together, he and Theo have agreed to a trial separation. Nate tries desperately to fix his lovers' broken relationship, but there's only so much he can do from the road.

At home, Cam tries to carry on, but feels like his whole life is spiraling out of control. Theo struggles to cope with the split as his depression worsens. They're both spinning their wheels, quickly losing hope they can keep it together-and keep the man they both still love.

Desperate, Nate drops everything in a last-ditch attempt to pull their trio back together before they hit rock bottom. Except their love could already be shattered beyond repair.

Hiatus

A wonderfully written book that lets us see into a triad relationship. I fell in love with the characters and especially Mate because he felt like a third wheel when the 17 year marriage broke up. I can see where the depression and the OCD came into play within the marriage and also where the not having the will to try and make the marriage work.

Love comes in 3

Can there actually be a long lasting love with three gorgeous men? Truth be told that the love comes in many ways. This “triad” relationship of love proves you can conquer almost anything! Great author as well as narrator!

Lots of sad and messy

Lots of sad and messy, mixed with complication and mental health issues...
Not what I expected at all but still absolutely worth the listen.

Three sexy men, life is complicated

This is not an action book. It is not a typical rock star book, nor is it a stereotypical ménage.

This is a relationship book. Real men, realistic situations, and painful separations.

I loved it.

Honestly, it did take a bit of time to orient myself as I am accustomed to action moving the story forward. With this book, often it is the lack of action that propels it into uncharted heart-breaking territory.

As this story involves three men, you could call it a ménage, but as Ms. Witt understands, in terms of polyamory – this is a true triad. Although Cam and Theo are married, Nate has equal status in the relationship and the three have been happily living together like this for more than four years.

With Nate’s rock star status, though, it means their relationship is in the ‘closet’. As the lead guitarist and frontman for Alien Emissary, his image is everything. Intriguing rumours about women he might be seeing means keeping his homosexuality a closely-held secret. His bandmates –friends since grade school – know the truth. They are also his support network and when the triad falls apart, it is Jill and his friends who rally around him.

And fall apart is the right term. Cam and Theo have agreed to a trial separation and Nate feels a bit like a child being shared between two bickering parents. Except he’s an adult and Cam and Theo have promised things will go on as they were before except it will be two separate relationships.

But, as a child of divorced parents, I can say that only the strongest of adults can endure divorce without letting some bitterness show through the cracks. Cam and Theo really do their best – and they both love Nate – but it’s just too hard.

The story is told from alternating first person points-of-view, split evenly between the three men. As such, the listener is pulled into the deep and dark places these men sometimes inhabit. Without giving too much away, there are some tough scenes in this book, and again, as someone who has seen dark places, they are very accurate and realistic.

Of course I have to mention Greg Boudreaux’s amazing performance. His narrations are always spot-on, and in this book he gives three distinct voices for the three men.

The reader needs to understand there are flashbacks and a slow-moving plot, so they should be prepared to sit back and enjoy a true relationship book. In the end, this is a romance, so it has a happy ending. And there are days when that is just perfect.

Heartbreaking but worth it

This was one of the most heartbreaking and angsty stories I have ever listened to. I am a huge fan of existing couples, and in this case, we have an existing throuple, which kind of makes the whole breakup and struggle to get back together thing that much worse. This story is pure pain and heartache from beginning to almost end. For someone who goes for the angst, it was almost too much for me.

Cam and Theo are legally married and have been together for over 17 years. For the last five years, they have joined with Nate, who is equally loved and loves them both equally, as well. The issue with this threesome is not jealousy nor an unfair exchange of time or love, but communication…and fear, and pride. Both Cam and Theo are struggling but keep their struggles to themselves. In other words, they lie when asked if they are okay, and they get mad if pushed. It was quite an eye opener to see something so real life being performed so realistically. The narrator was on his game in this audio.

Nate is the odd man out, not because he is not “married” to them but because he is a musician and is always traveling and on the road. So finding out his family was splitting up put a serious strain on Nate and his career. Theo and Cam are a package deal, and it kills him to have to see them each separately. This is a really difficult audio to listen to because the narrator performed each character, and their heartfelt pain, so well that my heart was left lodged in my throat. There were times when I heard how much they all loved each other, but I also could easily see them going their separate ways. It took near the entire book, but once Cam and Theo talked, really talked, and started to heal, then they once again included Nate back in to the threesome, the pain slowly drifted away and I knew they were going to be okay.

Having a root canal is more enjoyable

Just say no... Witt has done better, way way better better, got it?

The book was unnecessarily overwritten, padding, tedious high school angst over and over and over and over gay angst.

So much angst

I have listened to a couple of L.A. Witts books and have so far never been disapointed, but this book did it. We are puched head first into a separation between 2 of 3 members of a triad, no real background of any of them except that Theo and Cam are married for years and Nate are there rockstar boyfriend that are finaly out on his first consert tour with his band. The first thing that happens are that Cam meet up with Nate and tell him the bad news about the separation BUT both of them still love him and want to continue to see him separately, he is also told that Theo and Cam are working on talking about it... yeah they arnt. The whole book is a cluster f-ck with angst and drama and basically the only break you get from it is when they have sex with Nate... We get some tiny info how they all met and how they ended up together but it came verry late in the story and by then you are so tired of all the drama you just dont care. Its obvious from the start that Theo and Cam need help from a conselor or pysiologist but they out right refuse which makes everything worse. And that they refuse to involv Nate in it all made me mad, if they are a triad, act like it! Instead its like a costedy battle between parents of who get to have the kid on the weekend!
I considerdd to not even finich this book but Greg Boudreaux kept me in it to the end, he captured all there hurt, sorrow, love and joy with his amazing voice and made the book a little better than if I read the story myself.
Sad to say I dont recommend this book, was just to much angst (and I usually dont mind that) and no real story for me to tell anyone to give it a shot.
