I have been a fan of the Hot in the City series from the beginning. Not just friends by T. Gephart did not disappoint.
Leighton (Jared) and Presley have been around each other for years because he is her brother's best friend and co-worker. A stalker ex-boyfriend leads to a night that they can't ignore. That's standard romancelandia, but what I loved is T. Gephart did an amazing job of overlaying Not Just Friends to the previous book, One Click Love.
This story is not a sequel or cliffhanger but a view from a different lens.

Jared and Presley

Presley is Jared’s best friend’s sister and should be off limits but he can’t deny their chemistry when she’s around. After hooking up, he realizes it was a mistake and freaks out because of how close he is to her family and doesn’t want the relationship to change. Presley is a firecracker who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it and she wants Jared. I enjoyed seeing the characters work through their issues and seeing their relationship develop. Presley is a great character, strong and confident and not afraid to go after what she wants. She complimented Jared perfectly.
The narrators were phenomenal. Jacob Morgan is a long time favorite. Vanessa Edwin is absolutely amazing. She gives a different voice to each character. She is extremely talented.

Another favorite in this series!

Wow! Did I love this one! The story is adventurous and easily kept me entertained. Best friends sister is a favorite trope of mine. I loved both Leighton and Presley! They are fun, sexy and know what they want. I loved Presley’s work persona! Such a strong female and not afraid to show it. Leighton and Tibbs have such a wonderful relationship that I could see the problem when Stubbs gives the “Hands Off” about Presley.

My absolute favorite secondary is “B”. He runs security at the bar. His straight laced face rivals his sarcastic humor. I loved all the names he came up with for Leighton. His scenes always made me smile. It’s always great to see characters from Books 1 &2. Plus a few new boys at the station

I did listen to this on audio. The narration did a good job. I am kinda hoping there are more in this series.

Hot! Liked this more than the first book but book 2 is my favey 🥰 A secret friends with benefits to lovers 🔥🔥🔥 I almost thought the H had DID too 😅 I love it when characters from previous books are active throughout the series and not forgotten 👍

Jacob Morgan again AMAZING!!!

it was a really good book! Jacob Morgan again was truly incredible! and my only regret is I wish somebody would write a romance novel where the female character is not drop dead gorgeous blah blah blah and we have a story about an average person not someone that women have to attain perfection!

Great friends/ brother best friend book

This was my first book by T. Gephart. Presley and Jared have been friends forever since Presley is Jared’s best friends sister. I enjoyed how strong of a women Presley was but we also got to see her softer side. Jared is a hot firefighter but I liked his protective side, in addition to him understanding Presley and giving her what she needs rather than go totally alpha. I enjoyed this book and will check out the others in the series in the future.

A great series

I’m not sure which book in the series was my favorite because they all were written so well and with such enjoyable characters. While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone they do tie together and you do see the same characters and storylines intertwined between the three.
If you are looking for a fun, lighthearted series I would highly recommend checking this one out.

Such a great series

Loved this book. These two started off as friends and the little sister to his best friend. How things changed real quick one night. They opened a door they tried to close again but realized they couldn’t.

Read this book with the audio! You won’t regret it!

If I thought the ebook version of this was perfect, the audio was that much more! These narrators show so much emotion that you feel like you’re there or right beside them. I loved being back in this world through audio. It immersed me even more than the first time... this was just solidified bringing them to life. I binge listened to this because I needed more even though I knew the ending!

I could not have asked for a more perfect book for this series.
This book shows that even the strongest, most confident people have a breaking point and weaknesses. With the proper help and support, those weaknesses can be overcome.

We have seen bits and pieces of Presley Tibbs in the previous books being as her brother Justin aka “Tibbs” is a part of the fire crew with North and Mack. But this story is a dual POV with Presley and Jared Leighton, also frequently just called Leighton, depending on who you’re talking to and when.

Presley is an independent, take charge woman - she has to be to run the hottest nightclub in NYC, Diablo.
Jared Leighton is also part of the crew with North, Mack, & Tibbs - Tibbs being his BEST FRIEND! Caught between a rock and a *ahem* hard place, he finds himself in between the sheets with Presley.

Unsure how to tell his best friend and her brother they’re involved with one another, Leighton and Presley work on evolving their relationship, dealing with their feelings, and also figuring out when and how to tell Tibbs. Because we know brothers don’t take kindly to that!

These two were pure fire together from the start! We saw in the last book how Gephart was setting up a book for Presley and Leighton. And wheeeew! I also really hope to see some of the other fire crew in future books... Tibbs please!!

While this brothers best friend rom-com can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the first two books prior, you’ll appreciate it that much more.
There is some overlap between this book and the first two, but as long as you continue reading, you don’t need to have a refresher - as the author gives that to you, in a non-repetitive way.

Not Just Friends is a book that comes highly recommended by me... Because to me these two are better off not just friends, they’re pure fire as lovers.

I liked this series but my favorite was book 2. Like book 2 it had a unusual plot for this common troupe. It was a easy listen with a little plot twist. Amazing narrators.
