Publisher's summary

Brielle Ives prefers dogs to people, and who could blame her? Her sled dogs are loyal to a fault, trust her implicitly, and couldn’t care less about the scars that mar her face. The only human who’s never disappointed her is her mentor, Dr. William Hunter. When his plane goes missing in the remote Alaskan wilderness, Bree will do anything to find him...even if it means turning to a frustrating, irresponsible, and too-sexy-for-his-own-good California boy for help.

When Ellis Hunter enlisted in the Army at eighteen, he put Alaska - and his womanizing drunk of a father - in his rearview mirror. He promised himself he’d never return, but even he can’t resist Bree’s panicked plea for help. If she’s hell-bent on trekking into the bush to find his father, then he's determined to go with her. But Ellis isn’t the only one shadowing Bree’s rescue attempt....

When the search for answers leaves Ellis and Bree trapped together in the wilds of Alaska, they’ll have to put aside their differences - and an attraction hot enough to melt glaciers - to survive the elements. Because someone dangerous lurks in that icy wilderness - a killer desperate to keep Dr. William Hunter's secrets buried deep in the snow.

Northern Escape was everything that in needed in a book today, and I couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed reading and listening to the book! There is a sweet love story with so much suspense that you keep turning pages! Tonya Burrows writes awesome characters, and I loved Ellis, Bree, and the puppies. Thrilling Mystery with Dogs and a Bit of Romance!

An entertaining suspenseful story! There's a good sized cast of characters and several POVs, allowing for a good tale to be told. I loved the detail and build of the story. Brie is an interesting character with a lot of heart and prefers the company of her dogs rather than people (same, girl). Ellis ran away from Alaska and never looked back. But a phone call from Brie sends him back to save her from the disappointment of his father. She's determined to find Dr. Will and if his sons won't help her, she'll look by herself (and her sled dog team). There's plenty of thrills and suspense in the story and it's practically not stop action. Once I started, I could not stop! Who needs sleep anyway?
The mysterious disappearance continues into the next book, but the action/plot of this story is wrapped up at the end and provides a nice stepping stone to the next story.
There is violence, injuries, some steamy scenes, minor violence against dogs (none of the dogs die!).

I liked the narrator! He did a good job with voicing both the male and female characters. He gave nice depth and characterization to everyone.

escape

I loved the narration of Stephen Borne, perfect for this book. Bringing the action, pace and characters.

This is fast paced, entertaining, filled with adventure and action. With great characters. Bree is strong, smart, and capable. Ellis is handsome, protective, and caring. The chemistry between them is hot. The two of them teamed up to find Dr William Hinter,
The action starts, with great twists and turns.

Northern escape

I voluntarily listened to the audiobook provided by the author in existence for a review. It’s quite the suspensful story with a lot of secrets that do not get fully uncovered in the first book of the series. Stephen Borne once more does a fabulous job of getting the characters right on spot. His smooth voice fits perfectly.

Terrific Romantic Suspense! Fantastic Narration🎧

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story grabbed my attention from the start and captivated it to the end. This is my first Tonya Burrows book, she has a wonderful writing style, she created characters and storylines that are realistic, easy to like, connect with and most of all feel for. I adored the two lead characters, Ellis Hunter and Brielle “Bree” Ives, each were broken in their own way but they both had huge hearts. We meet Ellis first in the book, I knew he was going to be an awesome character just by the way he handled Peanut, his caring heart shone in that scene and the scenes that followed. But when Bree calls to let him know his father is missing and she expects he is trouble, he wants nothing to do with him or Alaska, he has anger and resentments towards his father, has not interest in helping him. But her comment that she would search for him herself makes him change his mind, he can not allow her to put herself in danger for his disappointing father. Bree does not know the same man Ellis claims his father is, Dr. William Hunter has been like a father figure to her. She chose to live a secluded life in Alaska for a reason, the scars she carries on her outside also scarred her heart, but that man was always kind to her and never looked or treated her differently. She would take her dogs and go into the wilderness to find him. Ellis is back in the one place he swore to never return and does the one thing he never expected to do, well two, the first being the effort to go save his father the second is finding a woman like Bree. There was great chemistry between them and they made for a great team, plus her dogs liked him. The two set out to search for Dr William Hunter and mother nature wasn’t the only challenge they faced. I liked how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, twists and turns, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional moments and a wonderful romance. Ellis and Bree’s story ends nicely but the storyline about his father, Dr. William Hunter, is left unresolved and will continue in the next book, I’d like to see some more healing amongst the brothers too. Tonya Burrows, thank you for this greatly entertaining novel, I am looking forward to what happens next.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Stephen Borne is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. He performs the voices for all the characters, gives each their own distinct sound which makes it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He does an awesome job portraying the characters, has a complete understanding of each role he is playing, sounding believable and just as I am picturing them to sound. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all of the characters emotions and projects them in to his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen.
