Story
The events on Halloween taught me a lesson - I'm not human and the supernatural world lives by different rules. Now I'm back at the academy determined to work hard, develop my magic skills, and save lives. I met my aunt who showed me that life as a future-sighted witch has greater challenges than I realized. Especially for me, because we've discovered I've more abilities than anybody expected.

I’m back at the Nightworld Academy and looking forward to a new term, but life isn't any easier. I’m still reeling from the events at the Winter Ball and Tobias’s revelation. Now, a new face on campus is about to throw everything into turmoil. My relationship with the guys grows more complicated. I’m worried Ash is drifting away from me. I’m no closer to finding how to stop Jamie’s death, and my feelings for Andrei confuse us both.

I've dealt with my share of homelessness. I've endured being the bad gal in the room. I’ve taken a lot of life’s punches on the chin. But never did I expect to be forced to attend an academy full of power-hungry delinquents. I can handle whatever threats, traps, bullying, and schemes are thrown my way, because I'm not here to be a good student. Of course, magic is real. Everybody knows that. Whatever. In my world magic sounds like major BS. But, when I’m accused of stealing and they’re about to arrest me, the item I took disappears from my hand as if by magic. WTF? Just like that, the Supernatural Academy swoops in and recruits me. But I don’t belong there, and everyone else agrees, including, Rowan Underwood, this rich and annoyingly handsome warlock who has it in for me. He’s investigating the theft of magical artifacts, and he thinks I’m involved.

Then, mages barge into my family’s home, murder my parents, and whisk me off to a university known as Villain Academy. It turns out I’m Persephone Bloodstone, the long lost heir to one of the five royal families of dark magic. Unfortunately, not all people from magical bloodlines have powers, and at 22, I’m several years past the age they usually appear. So I’ve resigned myself to a boring, magic-less life. Then something strange happens. I get stuck in the middle of a bar fight, and instead of just punching the guy back, I blow a hole in the wall. So...I guess I do have powers. But they’re unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This shit is definitely not normal. And it seems the magical authorities agree. I can go to school, learn to control my magic. Or they’ll take it away. Permanently.

Maddison James learned a lot about life last year. Only important stuff, of course. Like how to breathe under water, how to turn an arrow into a weapon, and how to fall in love. Asher Locke. The one who stole her heart. The one who showed her the truth of her past and...hopefully her future. Now, it's just time for them to live happily ever after. Only the gods have different plans. In a month, I've gone from magicless to one of the most powerful dark mages in the world. You'd think that would make my life easier. But all that power is only potential until I learn how to wield it, and my enemies have a huge head start. While I'm picking up every skill I can, adversaries both within Villain Academy and beyond it are working to knock me down. My fellow scions? I can count at least a couple of them among those enemies. The others...let's just say the lines between light and dark have gotten a lot more blurred.

Maddison James is about to discover some truths about the world. Firstly...supernaturals exist. WTF? Secondly...she is one, even though no one seems to know exactly what kind. Double WTF. Thirdly...she’s about to go back to school. Well, things just got a little more interesting. The Supernatural Academy is where shifters, vampires, magic users, and fey are educated. Where they are taught about their abilities, and how to function in the human world. Maddison already has the human part down, but this supernatural thing is an entirely new dangerous game.

For years, Unpredictables have been brushed aside by the rest of the magical community. Now, people are starting to pay attention - and I’m not entirely sure that’s a good thing. Story
A wolf shifter, gorgeous incubus, and sexy billionaire twins. They're all dangerous. And they all want me. Welcome to the Academy of the Elites. When I somehow summon fire in an act of self-defense, I'm given two choices by the magic cops: attend some stuck-up magic school, or go to magic jail. There go my plans for the next year. Apparently, I have Untamed Magic, whatever that means. And I've got a year to get it under control at this magic academy that's basically a finishing school for the elite. Everyone here is somebody important. And rich. Except for me.
By: Alexis Calder
Publisher's Summary
Welcome to the Nightworld Academy, attended by vampires, shifters, and witches. A place filled with harmony and mutual respect between the supernatural races. Sometimes.
I'm told my curse is a gift. A valuable one that could cost me my life.
My visions of the future are weird, but my new school is weirder. All lessons take place in the evening and the majority of students are on an advanced program where they take extra classes late into the night.
I enrolled at the academy because my last school expelled me for punching another student. Nobody believed that I knocked Tyler unconscious to stop somebody else dying. But why would they believe the crazy girl?
I expected to meet other troubled teens here, but the pupils are predictable for an English boarding school. There's Ash, the rugby team captain and the academy’s most popular guy. Then there’s Andrei, the moody guy with a bad attitude who takes pleasure in annoying me. And Jamie who’s studious and friendly but intense.
I thought I had the academy figured out: the mean girl, the quirky friend, the nerd, the emo, and the jock. But on the evening I swear allegiance to my new school house, everything spins out of control and I realize I’m dealing with more.
Much more.
One of us will die, and I know who.
Term One is the first in this new upper YA/NA series of magic academy books. The main characters are eighteen and older and this is a slow burn RH. As the series is set at a school in England, the books are written in British English.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE
This story was interesting from the beginning, and as the book progressed it got more interesting. The main character, Maeve, was kinda irritating but the plot more than made up for it. Sarah Colton and Steve Campbell have excellent chemistry, and their voices were so well matched with each other. In other words, GREAT NARRATION. I personally cannot wait for the next audiobook and am itching to get my hands on it. NIghtworld Academy: Year One was definitely worth the time spent listening to it. Buy it, you won't regret it.

This audio will keep you up all night
Book 1 in the series. Lisa Swallow wrote a great Reverse Harem story . The story has mystery , heroine saving, illusions and getting back at some characters . The heroine has unique magical skills Heroine is Maeve . And Maeve's boys . Maeve parents keep on telling her the visions she keeps on seeing is her mind making things up . It’s not real . One night Maeve seems a vision that she can’t just ignore. Maeve sees things working up to her vision and she decides to make things right. Maeve saves the school-person . She gets in trouble with both her parents and the school . Her parents decide to punish her ., they send her to another school. That’s when things get real interesting. That’s where her powers are revealed and she meets her men . Both Steve Campbell and Sarah Colton performance was fantastic. They did the characters and tone was great .

Enjoyed it
I enjoyed this book. It was a slow burn, which i don't mind. The main character is thrust into a completely new world of supernaturals which she had no idea existed. She was always told she was crazy. Then to find out she was actually a witch who sees the future. The narration brings in a whole new level to this book. I can't wait to read more in this series!

Good story, so so MC
I really enjoyed they story. The plot progression was on point for me, and the narration was great. Loved the sub characters and the slow burn. The main character has some great aspects but also some things that made feel “eh” about her. There were moments where she seemed a bit whiny or immature but some of those parts made you feel her emotions on a relatable level too. Over all I would give this book a try. The story is good enough to ignore the minor annoyances for. I was given my copy for an unbiased review.

Great Introduction to the Series / Great Narration
This was my first LJ Swallow's book. This is the first book in the Nighworld Academy, a YA/NA series, and slow burn RH story. This is a great introduction to the series. The world building is complex and intriguing. Maeve, Ash, Andrei, and Jamies are great and interesting characters. The story has magic, mystery and romance, with vampires, shifters, and witches. Sarah Colton and Steve Campbell did a great job with the narration. I love their voices together. Now, I can't wait for the next book in the Series. #AudiobookObsession

A World of Secrets
Maeve believes she is going to a school to help her with her issues. That school turns out to be far from what she imagines. Can she learn to survive in a world she knows nothing about and holds many secrets. As she learns about this world she struggles with her perception of what is right. I enjoyed this and can’t wait to see where this adventure take Maeve. I really enjoyed the narration.

Good start to this supernatural academy series
I have read a lot of other RH series by LJ Swallow but for some reason I hadn’t picked this one up yet. I am so glad I got to listen to it on audio because the narrators really brought this story to life in my head. I haven’t been listening or reading the recent releases in the supernatural/paranormal academy book genre, but I enjoyed this story and characters LJ has created and look forward to more! I hadn’t listened to any audiobooks by these 2 narrators and they pleasantly surprised me. Added them to my “good/awesome” list for sure. I wish there had been more Steve to be honest, but that was all dependent on the storyline and chapter POVs really. I did enjoy during and after the confrontation at the end his various accents/changes in the intonation. I could figure out the different characters very well. I thought Sarah did a good job with Maeve and the supporting characters (esp Kathryn). I could feel the various emotions Sarah portrayed, very good job! Regarding the actual story, I really enjoyed the different creatures/beings that are included and the odes to Harry Potter made me giggle and smile. I think I actually liked the supporting characters more than the MC, which is why I couldn’t give the story 5 stars. I think she has a lot of room to grow which is great for the overarching story. I just think as the book went on, I wasn’t connecting with her as much/was yelling at her to just tell people what she saw haha. I definitely am interested to see what happens between her and the various men in her life. I couldn’t pick my fav, but Andrei was probably winning just a tad. I thought he had some amazing vulnerable moments that left me wanting to know more about him. I usually go for the nerd buuuut not this time haha. I definitely am going to listen to book 2 right away, I need to know what happens next! Totally recommend this series and give two thumbs up to these narrators, for anyone looking for a new supernatural story to get lost in ❤️ 🎧 Audiobook Obsession Reviewer

I’ll listen to the second but...
I loved the idea of this book but there were a lot of bug plot holes and it didn’t captivate me the way others have. Maeve was a bit unrelatable and whiny. I understand she was kind of thrown into the world but she was a bit slow on the uptake for a lot of things. It seemed odd to me that she wasn’t given more of an explanation on things when she was first dropped off at the academy and definitely made me hate her parents for just dropping her off even when her mom knew she could have powers. I hope Maeve turns into a stronger character because I think the storyline has a lot of potential. #audiobookobsession

This is a good start to a new series I find something redeeming in most of the characters and something likeable in many. There is a really good main plot along with other small plots. Well written and intriguing, I am enjoying this series. I am not loving the narration that is somewhat inconsistent with voices that sound too alike to be recognisably distinct, and an overly plummy accent that remind me of old war movies.

Witches, shifters, and vampires:what's not to love
Maeve is sent off to what she believes to be a sort of boarding school; little does she know she's being thrown into a world full of magic. I enjoyed the pull between Maeve and some of the different boys. Throw in a sexy vampire as a teacher and things get a whole lot more intersting! I'm looking forward to more of the story. The narrators did a great job at bringing the story to life. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Nightworld Academy Term One
Such a fun listen! To find out that you aren’t crazy after all but actually have a very strong talent that may or may not cause even more problems makes for a very interesting listen. This book leaves with a little bit of a cliffhanger so I will be looking for Term two soon. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Enjoyable
Very enjoyable, being introduced to new characters and a new world. I can’t wait to hear what is next and will M be able to stop it........ The narration was good, only minor production noises but still very enjoyable, if you only started listening to Audiobooks you won’t even notice it. 🎧AOR🎧

Good YA
I usually have low expectations of Young Adult, and this one exceeded them... the story and plot is typical of YA, but the writing is solid and interesting. the characters are above the average YA, though still very predictable and caricatured... as for the narration I was a little thrown by Sarah at first, but once I got used to her, she did very well... Steve is a pro and delivers as always, not much to say there, though he doesn't get much time to shine... honestly, this book could have been done with one narrator though, it didn't add much to the experience despite both being talented

Freshman Year
I thoroughly enjoyed this! I won't lie, I was a bit torn about how felt about Meave, sometimes, she was a bit much. The cliffhanger left me wanting more. The narration was fantastic. I am familiar with Sarah Colton's work, but not Steve Campbell. He is definitely on my radar! 🎧AudiobookObsession🎧

Magic, Vampires and Shifters
I really enjoyed listening to Nightworld Academy Term 2. This book is a great start to a new series. I haven't been able to stop listening and am excited for Term 2. Term 1 introduces us to Maeve. A Misfit, plagued by visions she has been forced to hide from her friends and family, all her life. After one particular event at her previous school, Maeve is moved to Ravenwood Academy aka Nightworld Academy. On arriving Maeve soon learns everything and everyone are not all they seem. Welcome to the teenage world of shifters, vamps and witches and the daily battles they live with, hiding from the unsuspecting humans who have in the past hunted them. This book takes you on a meet and greet of all the main characters. It leads you down a path that is full of mystery and intrigue, clearly setting us up for what is to come. Maeve and her visions add an extra dimension to the story, will she be able to save the day, who will turn her head (lots to choose from).......another great story from LJ Swallow. Narrated by Sarah Colton as Maeve and Steve Campbell as Ash, Andrei and Jamie, their storytelling allows you to disappear into the narrative, in the same way you do when reading the book yourself.

4.5 stars
This book was really enjoyable to listen to as an audiobook. There were some scenarios where the female protagonist was a tad bit whiny but over all, this is an amazing book. There isn't a huge determination of who Maeve will be with because of the looming death over one of the boys but seeing as this is supposed to be a reverse harem, it is assumed each character with a chapter will be part of it. Maybe more? I'm excited to see more of this series because while the ending is amazing, it does end on a cliffhanger. I don't regret reading this book and definitely recommend this to those who like this type of genre. While this didn't spring huge, strong emotions in me it was still a good story.

Male voice
The male voice was a bit hard to listen to at times. But overall, great story!
