While this takes place in the 80s or 90s, before cell phones and social media, the relationship between Vicki and Schmidt, vicki and John, even her relationship with herself, are so fraught with her temper, ego, and insecurities, they’re hysterically funny. Peters was so skillful that she made these otherwise simple characters into sweet, loving great friends.

Timeless!

at first I struggled to get into this plot , but as usual Peter's finds a way to get them out of whatever situation they got themselves into. brilliant read, and I wish she had written more.

a great listen and read

I think the thing I love most about Ms. Peters' books is that they are so darn educated. If you want a smart read that still gives a thrill, this is high on the list. A warning of a slight ribald edge to the sensitive reader, however. Ms. Rosenblat's performance can only be described as first rate and not to be missed.

Any additional comments?

This is a nice reading of Night Train to Memphis by Elizabeth Peters, The story is a potboiler of archaeological intrigue that is witty and comes with some entertaining and attractive characters, I do prefer the version read by Kathleen Turner (not available on Audible) but Rosenblat does a good job.

This was the best of the Vicky Bliss series. I was very sad to discover it was also the last. I enjoyed Amelia Peabody very much, but I found myself more attached to Vicky. I wish there were more. If you haven't listened to the Barbara Rosenblat narrations, you are doing yourself a great injustice. The first time you hear Vicky Bliss you won't believe it is the same person who narrates the Amelia Peabody series. The woman deserves accolades and awards for both the Amelia Peabody and Vicky Bliss series.

Excellent story. Excellent Narration. Elizabeth P. and Barbara R. are my favorite dynamic duo. Of course I say the same about Terry Pratchett and both narrators of his books. Peters and Pratchett RIP. Both gone too soon, both left incredible literature for people like me.

Right train to mesmerize

I never thought I'd like country songs from past times, but this story brought them out in such a unique way. The story's ending was just the best. The characters through the books in this series are perfect. Elizabeth Peters is brilliant, and Barbara Rosenblat outdid herself this time with the character voices. She can even sing in a character's way of speaking. Bravo!

Poor Vicki! To find out that your lover has a cheatin' heart - and is now married?! To someone else? Sorry, can't help myself. Soooo many references to country music tunes, I almost wish there was a list to see if I found them all. Schmidt as a country music fan? Haaaahaaaaa...... Oh, sorry. Uh, yeah - I loved it, and you will too!

Her Achey, Breakey Heart!

I loved the entire series. The last book saved itself by its amazing ending. And the old folk song at the end - a take on Night Train to Memphis, had me in complete tears because really, it does not get more true than that. I listen to that song rendition when I feel I need to remember.
Thank you to the character of Vicky Bliss, for being my hero.

Wonderful ending.
