“A royal treat….Welcome back, Vicky Bliss!...For readers new to Vicky’s sassy and distinctively smart stories, The Laughter of Dead Kings will mark the start of a beautiful friendship.”

Tampa Tribune

New York Times bestselling Grand Master Elizabeth Peters—author of the thrilling fictional exploits of archaeologist Amelia Peabody in the Land of the Pharaohs—brings back beautiful, brainy art expert and sometime sleuth Vicky Bliss for one last adventure in The Laughter of Dead Kings. The incomparable Peters sends Vicky and her colorful entourage racing across modern-day Egypt to investigate the brazen theft of one the ancient desert land’s most priceless treasures. Smart, funny, evocative, and suspenseful, The Laughter of Dead Kings is a fond and fitting farewell to the ever-delightful Vicky…and a superior mystery fit for a King Tutankhamen.©2008 MPM Manor, Inc.; (P)2008 HarperCollins Publishers

The Vicky Bliss series is one I really hated to see end. Always fun and engaging - smart dialogue and a good mix of humor and mystery.

Love this series

Vicky Bliss is one of my favorite characters. Her stories are funny and serious and full of action. I wish there were more in the series, and hope there are more to come. This one is set in current time, so that cell phones are involved. Great book.

I've already listened to this book many times!

A good end to the Vicki Bliss series. I wouldn't want to have another. All was well that ended well. I did enjoy all of the characters, especially Schmidt. (What an interesting one). I read all of the books in this series as I Love Barbara Rosenblat's narration. And of course, Elizabeth Peters is brilliant.

Loved Vicky Bliss! It’s a great ending for a really fun series! I loved these characters - it’s sad to come to the end. No spoilers - but I enjoyed these characters and how they grew and changed through the books. It isn’t always necessary, when reading a series, but it was nice to see a truly satisfying conclusion for these characters! Read the whole series first, it will make more sense to get to the ending. :)

Enjoyable Ending for Vicky Bliss!

It's clear even from the prologue that the author, reaching the end of her career, decided to just plain have fun with this one. Alphabet Schmidt! The journal-thief! John's antecedents! It's basically all that a fan could ask for. I think I'll enjoy it even more on the relistening, now that I know which characters to trust (something that in Vicky Bliss novels in particular always makes first listens problematic). Super fun.

Eminently satisfying payoff to the series
