Learn about the past to understand the present!
First I would like to say if you have not read Nighthawks please go and read that book first. Night Shadows continues right after Nighthawks leaves off and while you follows the Nighthawks as they try to figure out what is next for them and the nation. Amongst all of the exciting fights and tense situations you also get to learn a little bit about how the country ended up in this situation.
I compared the first book to Brilliance and X-men, while these comparisons are still appropriate this book delves more into the why then the first book dared. If you care about characters and backstory this book has a lot more to offer you then the first one did. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Night Shadows
Children of Nostradamus, Book 2
By: Jeremy Flagg
Narrated by: Robin J Sitten
This is an Audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
First, read the books in order. Second, read these books!!! If you like a world were kids are born different, like they have gifts like the X-Men then this might be for you! The world has robots, or synthesis that enforce the curfew, failure to obey the curfew is the death penalty. Anyone with a gift is caught, killed, or worse...yes, worse! It is an exciting read that continues from book one. I can't wait for the next one! Great story! I love each of these kids and the bad characters are super bad!
The narration is excellent! Such emotion! Wonderful voices just as I imagine them to be! Great all the way around!

Good sci-fi series
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. The plot line of the book is well thought through. I did enjoy listening to it. I look forward to what the next book has in store.
While I did like the story the reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because it uses the f-word and other cuss word more often then I would like. So I’m leaving this as a language warning for those that are interested.
The narrator does an amazing job at bringing the book to life.

Very Disappointing 2nd Book
There was a Lot of back and forth in in the timeline and a Lot of Fighting. This 2nd book devolved and the Story never reach the potential it could have had. Seemed the author got so caught up in all the twists and turns and the fighting, that he lost sight of keeping the actual story interesting to the reader. Narrator did a good job with the characters voices.

A Great Listen
A tale set in the near future of a modern day witch hunt. The hunted are the Children of Nostradamus. Those people with genetic differences that give super powers and the fear and hatred of those not affected. The battle continues as the children and those casted out by the war world together to get a life that's saner and safer. Along the way answers to mysteries are revealed in this suspenseful tale of a unwanted future. Well worth the listen. I should have been there!!!!
I found myself craving to jump into the story, to help out the team. As if the outcomes would have been different if I was there, smh. This book really drew me in, more so than the first. Oh, and now hearing them being referred to as "child" and "children" is rubbing me the wrong way. I can sense the "anger spikes", like I feel in shows, where certain groups are referred to as "pagans". Makes me want to start punching things, lol.
I see there is a 4th and 5th book. So I'll have to dive back in for book 3 soon.
Improvements, all around, with this book.

Getting better- story and narration
This is the second book I’ve read/listened to by this author and second in this series. As mentioned by other reviewers, this is a very X-Men style book- which is great!
It still flips back and forth from events in 1993 and 2033. This helps us gain more insight into the characters. We have the corrupt ‘president’, her nemesis (who is also the enemy of the gifted), and the Nighthawks (group of gifted). All his makes for an interesting conflict in which the Nighthawks, with the help of a dead psychic’s prophecies, are trying to right the wrongs.
This is the second book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( robin j sitten ) and I would listen to another. She has improved from the first book. This is more of a performed book than a read one! Nice job. I found her character voices were more differentiated.
There are no explicit sex scenes, there is violence, but not excessively gory. There is a bit of swearing.

The battle intensifies.
When the group find they did not destroy the power behind the persecution of the Children they must try to determine who is really in charge. They continue to run to keep ahead of the government as they train and prepare. When the town of people they were trying to protect is destroyed and the people killed they are devastated and intensifies their efforts.
This book is full bore excitement from start to finish. The narrator is exceptional with multiple voices and expresses emotions well at the right times.

Stakes are raised in a strong sequel
First thing to get out of the way with this review is to suggest that you go and listen to the first book in the series before starting on this one, this isn't a series where you would fully appreciate this installment without the first one as it successfully builds on the foundations that were laid in that first novel and then proceeds to ramp things up quite a lot.
Once you are up to date with the series this one will again evoke memories of X-Men plotlines such as the shadow king, hellfire club and the sentinels, but the author manages to take these familiar themes and characters in different and interesting directions to produce this strong second book in the series.
The performance of the narrator continues to be a strength of the audiobook with her narration nicely enhancing the overall story.
Overall, a strong second book that leaves me eager for the next installment.

We are at war. There are no lines.
Everyone, it seems, is fighting to save America, but the America envisioned is different. The President, the first woman elected, is there for life, and she intends it to be a long one. Eleanor Valentine, the psychic who could, all her life, foresee future patterns and tried to change them, is dead, but before she was murdered, had written letters to be given to people at strategic points over the next 40 years, letters which will greatly influence each recipient. Boston is radioactive. Breaking the curfew will likely result in death. Synthetics, powerful machine sentinels, roam the streets and can destroy a village, and there are strange smiling men in leather jackets appearing who seem without fear.
And then there are the Children, young people, mostly, who have developed special attributes: telportation, telepathy, kinesis, superstrength, the ability to throw lightning, make fire, even fly (almost). The children evolve and are hunted, sometimes to be subjected to laboratory testing, mostly for simple extermination. But the small group of adult Children is determined to stop the killings - even if it means war.
These are colourful comic book characters, both good and evil. And, with visual writing, the author transports the reader between locations engulfed in fire, bombarded by bullets and illusion, or to a sparse grey cell - and all places in between. Narrated again by Robin Sitten, the pace is fast and the text clear. Read with a passion and good inflection, the relative absence of voice differentiation between many of the (numerous) characters is not a problem. This is the second book in the series and it is advisable to read it's predecessor before beginning this book as, moving between 1992 and 2032, it can be a tad confusing without the prior knowledge.
.
An exciting and different Apocalyptic story, fast paced and full of action, My thanks to the rights holder of Night Shadows, who, at my request, freely gifted me a complimentary copy of the book,. It is one to bring pleasure to any comic fan.

Book 2 also awesome!!
This takes up as soon as book one ends so you probably want to read book one first. Book one is also awesome so that's a good thing! We see more mysteries unraveled in this book as we evolve the story and our characters. Our nighthawks are great characters! We see them evolve nicely and the story is great. Very good. I'm trying to avoid spoilers but I will say the escalation between the president and the military is a great scene/section. I also like the shadowy organisation that fits in very well with the storyline and offers competition for being the bad guy. Two bad guys going against the Nighthawks makes for a cool book. Great pace and a story filled with twists and turns.
Very good. The narration is excellent and adds to the storyline and gives great pace to the book.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

So Eleanors reach continues
The story continues building on before and shows us bigger things for the said children. There are newer and older threads weaving a rich tapestry here and a good few twists that even the children didn't foresee one way or another. Solid book and looking forward to finding more of Eleanors plan as it continues from the cemetry....
Doesn't disappoint

A great continuation of the series
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
The Book
Continuing hot off the heels of the first book this one throws more mutant futuristic action at you straight from the beginning. Its got elements of X-men with mutant types and Sentinel types but manages to not feel like a copy but its own version of a similar story. You really do need to read these in order to properly appreciate the story however.
We see a bit more of the past of the world in this one which is nice but also plenty of the nighthawks current trials and tribulations. The ending is once again infuriating in that you want to know what happens next! More please.
The Production
As with book one in the series the quality of the narrators reading and the sound itself was of a very good standard.
