Story
My daughter is the jewel of my world, but I am conflicted over the thought that she could grow up to become a dangerous killer like Anastasia Bathory. Added to this, I have discovered that the man I love, Knight, isn't as dead as I was told. The conflicting emotions I feel over him must be put to one side, however, as I enter negotiations with the Lycans to forge an alliance against the turned vampires who threaten us. Desperate to thwart the looming war, I need answers for my daughter, and to get them, I must turn to James, the vampire who had previously bitten and tortured me.

Story
For 400 years, I have maintained the rules laid down centuries ago by Born vampires. We stay hidden in the shadows away from humans, and kill our enemies, the Lycans, when they trespass into our territory. A test of my morality comes when a Lycan child crosses our border one day, and instead of killing it, I set it free. I am rewarded by the Lycans, but I have flouted the law I’ve so carefully followed for centuries. I almost believed no one would discover my indiscretion when Arthur, a sinister Hunter tasked with finding vampires who have broken the laws, arrives at our castle. Then my best friend, Olivier, is recruited by Arthur, and I am all but certain I have been discovered. I only have one option left.

Publisher's Summary
An intriguing stranger. A time machine. A young woman intent on reclaiming her old life by stopping the mass shooter who took the life of her love. What could possibly go wrong?
College student, Kat Chambers, lived a charmed life that would rival any princess, until the night the man she planned to marry was murdered. In that moment, her beautiful dream turned into her worst nightmare, and her true love was gone so there was no one to wake her from the horror.
Sixteen months later, a chance encounter with an intriguing stranger leads her to the discovery of a time machine. Thinking it's a sign from the Universe and a way to get her old life back, she hatches a scheme to sneak into the lab to go back in time, and shoot the killer before he can execute his heinous plan.
However, from the moment Kat steps into the past, it becomes clear fate has an agenda of its own, and it's not at all what she bargained for.

Maybe good for teens
I love time travel books so listened to this with high hopes. Unfortunately I was disappointed. First of all, I'm willing to accept much of works like this to be fantasy but there just has to be realism too. This one just stretched that far beyond what I found acceptable. Also, the story felt like it had been written by a teenager. This young woman who was supposed to be intelligent seemed to not have a viable brain! Last, the constant and repetitious references to "the Universe" was just beyond the pale. I personally do believe in the Universe as an energy but it isn't something you barter with (as she did) or treat lightly. Not my cup of tea.

Enjoyable book
This was a lot more suspenseful than I expected, being it was a time travel. I enjoyed the added physics details the author put in, showing she obviously did a good deal of research. Overall, the story and narrator were both entertaining. I'd recommend it.

A very interesting time travel
This is definitely not your typical time travel story, and I think that's why I loved it. It has pretty much everything... a women's tale of survival, a lot of suspense, a little romance, and some physics thrown in to boot! And all around good story and timely too. The narrator did a great job too. I would recommend it to everyone.

Great story
I really enjoyed this book. It moved a little slow at a times, but I liked the supporting science aspects to the story. The author clearly did her homework exploring the idea of time travel. Some things were just a little too convenient, but I excuse those as part of the plot. Sometimes it's necessary. I wish there was a bit more at the end. Narrator did a great job with the story.
