Straight to the meat and potatoes

I've been learning Italian for a year IN ITALY and honestly got a bit stuck with expressing myself the way I really want to. Since I know a bit of Italian but have a hard time communicating, this course helped me to get straight into communicating with real people using real, every day speech. It's the real "meat and potatoes" communication that I hear daily but can't translate in my head.
Mr. Noble teaches how ITALIANS say certain things which is imperative to not getting stuck by trying to translate word-for-word using expressions you'd use in your own native language. These colloquial phrases and styles of speech have helped me immensely and I've been able to immediately put it to good use in my everyday life - in Italy. Many thanks!

Best Resource I have Used

I've been trying to learn Italian on and off for many years and always ended up discouraged by not catching on to the lessons and concepts that were presented. This course was completely different. They did a phenomenal job at re-introducing terms, phrases, and sentences throughout the course that felt very natural and helped with memorizing. I always felt that unless I was asked specifically "Where is the cat?" and gave the appropriate response, that's about as far as I could go with that conversation or sentence because the other courses would jump to an unrelated sentence about flying. This course does a great job of bringing concepts up and reintroducing them later on in a way that allows you to remember how and why you're sentences are constructed as such. Not just: remember this sentence, next remember this sentence, and finally remember that sentence.... end course.

Great method but the booklet is useless

I think the audio lessons are great. I purchased the first three and was really looking forward to this Next Step. I learn best when I can reinforce what I hear with reading and writing ... the booklet (PDF) is useless (very little content for a 7 hour course)!

Best used as a sleep aid.

a couple of new ideas were presented. over and over and over again. I recommend listening at 130 to 150% speed. the combination of Paul Nobles silky smooth voice and the long long gaps before the Italian translation can help almost anyone fall asleep.

Great course. Couldn't access PDF.

I love all of the Paul Noble Italian courses, however, it was not easy to find the accompanying PDF booklet. it was not automatically downloaded to my library. After sever minutes of frustration, I simply went to the Audible website on my desktop, and there was the link to download the PDF. I then emailed it to myself and downloaded to my phone. The mobile app is not clear as to how to access the PDF. Other than that, love this course!!

First course was better

The first course (Learn Italian with Paul Noble Complete Course) was so much better. This has a few extra/bonus phrases that could have been easily included in the original course. Heck, you could probably even find these bonus phrases in a supplementary course like Babbel or Duolingo. If you skip this course, you’re not missing much.

Not quite as good as the first course

This course was not as helpful as the first course, in my opinion. It felt a bit repetitive (repetition is good, but maybe a bit excessive). There were spots where I thought I had accidentally gone back a few chapters. It was still a good course, and I'm glad they included the expanded review from the first course at the end with the future tense. I wish Paul would create a Third Course in this series!

I found it to be fabulous!

I love the way he presents this course and find his voice to be really pleasant. All the stuff you need to know to have a great running start. I hope he continues to broaden his Italian courses. I will be listening to this one several times to have it sink in completely. Thank you Paul, I like your style.

Great Program!

I have used his programs for Spanish, French and now Italian. Great way to start learning how to use the verbs and some important vocabulary. I just ordered my food at an Italian restaurant. Paul Noble sets you up for success.

As usual, Paul Noble has produced a great teaching tool

I have really enjoyed Paul Noble’s approach to teaching Italian. I have a difficult time with languages but his course is far superior to others I have tried. He has a lot of great tricks for remembering things. Tenses are tough but he tries to make them logical. You have to have listened to the first course to get much from this one, and I look foward to his next book.

Excellent as expected

I just wanted to put a simple review on for this Audio book, as I bought and followed the beginner course in Italian from Paul Noble and was amazed by the results, when I came to look at the follow up course there were not many reviews on to help me decide. I bought it anyway and I am please to report it is an excellent and enjoyable follow up course, I can heartily recommend it! I am hoping that Paul will continue with the series in the future.

Very good follow-up course, but could be improved

The key aspect which I like about Paul Noble's language tuition techniques is that they work with the brain's memory and as a result the majority of their content is retained on first listen; whereas, I for one forget most of the content of other language courses. However, I agree with other reviews that there is a lack of clarity of pronunciation at certain times by the Italian lady which meant I had to keep re-listening to those parts.
One other point I wish to share is that personally I really don't like the use of Italianised English words such as "il weekend" rather than "il fine settimana"; Italian is such beautiful language which for me is an important motivation factor to learn it.

Amazing learning like always with Paul Noble

Paul Is the person to look to when one thing to learn a new language (from those available from him). No with the Next Steps extension one becomes much much better equipped on what I would call a level one and two combined (for Increased fluency I then proceed with Pimsleur, normally starting at Level 2 - until level 3 normally existing here at Audible at a convenient price)
Let me say this: Paul Nobel is unmissable and irreplaceable by any other method I have heard of. This is like a private tutor teaching you the fundamentals of the language in a oral, permanent dialogue, context. You will not only start speaking, you will also apprehend all the gramar almost without noticing it!!!
I am fluent in PT and EN, and by now have revised my French with Paul and fully learned Spanish with Paul + Pimsleur, to finally have just finished the two audiobooks by Paul in Italian (will proceed in this with Pimsleur). It is amazing to see our excellent progress as we go through the dialogues to test our learning at the final part of each audiobook. What are you waiting for to learn languages in a matter of some weeks. Look no further and above all ... hurry up and start!!!!

Excellent addition to the original series

I was a big fan of the original series, as Paul teaches in a way which is accessible, not intimidating and extremely useful as he unlocks conversational Italian that can be used in everyday life immediately. I now live in Italy and use this book alongside my face-to-face Italian lessons, it's amazing the depth of the content that this book covers, especially given its simple approach. I would highly recommend this book, but you MUST cover the first three as this book very much follows on from those. A++

Can we have more please?

I find Paul Noble's Italian audio courses very well structured and presented. I have now progressed to learning Italian online on a 1:1 basis with a tutor. I am very pleased to discover what a good basis the Paul Noble courses have given me to make progress in my learning of Italian. The clear explanation of grammar points, constant repetition of phrases and in different real-life contexts means that the listener absorbs subconsciously what is learned and has the confidence to apply it . The use of a native Italian speaker and the opportunities for the listener to respond are very helpful with achieving reasonably good pronunciation. The Paul Noble Italian audio courses are enjoyable to listen to while walking, gardening, housework etc. I don't know whether Paul has developed a more advanced course or not? If not, I wish he would do so and that Audible would publish it. When available, I will certainly purchase it..

Interesting approach

I really felt like I was making progress while listening to this course. It's a good approach and inevitably leaves you wanting another more advanced book, but like so many other language series they seem more interested in expanding the range rather going into intermediate territory.

Good follow up but needs a bit of work

I've found this series really useful and this book continues to impress me.

The one hang up I have is to do with the pronunciation from the Italian speaker. Although she is mostly clear, she needs to work on her vowels, often the crucial difference between the 'o's. 'a''s and 'e's is slightly blurred which makes it hard to get things correct.

I would still recommend this book other learners and think Paul's approach really suits English folk like me who were taught grammar and languages so badly at school. His method focuses on getting you speaking Italian and letting you get to know the rules organically.

Excellent as a refresher

I have, years ago, studied Italian, not out of need but because I love the country and the language. However, having a lot of vocabulary and all the grammar theory in your head does not mean you will be able to speak Italian, as I, yet again, realised, having arrived in Italy for my holidays. The course was perfect. It did what my friend accurately described as „unplugging” my Italian - it got me talking, first of all, and through it I started remembering, and using, things I learnt in the past too. For me-absolutely phenomenal.

Best language course

This is the best course for beginners and intermediates I have ever found. Paul Noble has an amazing way to make words, phrases and rules stick. I can’t wait for him to make another more advanced course in Italian

Waste of Money If You Did Previous Courses

I was sorely disappointed with this course. I completed the first four courses, which was reasonable, but found that this course essentially repeated the same material, with a small amount of new material near the end. There are far better and engaging materials online, Based on experience, this course will not at all prepare you for a trip to Italy. I thought it would be a good refresher but was mislead by the Next Steps title. Poor effort Mr Noble.

Easiest way to learn Italian

I’ve tried a few apps and books and Paul is the best for helping you to remember everything well after you’ve learnt it. Especially how plurals, masculine feminine etc. I wish there was another book following this.
