Publisher's summary

The cutting-edge Net Force thriller series, created by Tom Clancy and Steve Pieczenik and written by Jerome Preisler, reveals the invisible battlefield where the war for global dominance is fought.

The president’s new cybersecurity team, Net Force, is up and running. But a political deadlock in Washington makes the young agency dangerously vulnerable to the criminals, terror groups, and hostile governments who would use the digital space to advance their destructive goals.

In Central Europe, an unknown enemy mounts a crippling high-tech assault against the organization’s military threat-response unit on its home base. The strike casts suspicion on a core member of Net Force, threatening to destroy the cyber defense group from within. But as they race to track down their attackers, the stakes are suddenly ratcheted higher. For a global syndicate of black-hat hackers and a newly belligerent Russia are hatching a mysterious, shadowy scheme for world domination from a place known only as the Secret City.

Their attack protocol: Leave Net Force in ashes while Moscow and its dark-web allies set the stage for a devastating strike against the United States.

Unless the men and women of Net Force can regroup in time to stop them.

Way technical but interesting

This story, while filled with very interesting tech, could have developed the characters better. Without tracking on a handful of characters it moved from site to site telling its story much like an after action report.

Unbelievable Clancy's name allowed on this.

plot fragmented, characters underdeveloped, action ok but at times too quickly narrated to follow. Disappointed in this and going to find out how to give it back. First give up in my 100s of books. Could not finish.

Horrible book & horrible story

This is the 2nd book in this series I have listened and I hated both of them. The first Clancy books I didn't love.

Not up to par

I’m sorry this was one of the worst in the series. I love Tom Clancy books and I couldn’t even finish this one. Really disliked the narration as it seems like the narrator was reading the script versus bringing the characters to life.

What?? The an ending

To short, there is a lot of technical jargon with meaningless purpose. Definitely not like the Gray Man series.

Great story but challenging

I really liked the story. Narration was good! But I had a really hard time with so so many inaccurate details!!! This one of the cool things about this type of book. He was saved by the engine block in his Testa?? Looking through the glass windshield of his motorcycle??? The rocket took off at Mach 13, then talked about traveling at 1000mph, very different speeds!! I’m sorry but the list goes on. These are just the things I know as facts never mind all the computer stuff I don’t know. Again the story was really cool.

Was disappointed not well written

Had numerous problems, poorly written not a typical Clancy novel. Has really weakened my faith in the series.

Net Force Review

Ending was abrupt. No closure. Could have migrated to next novel more smoothly. There were too many stories without closure or proper wind down.

Disjointed

The quality of the story was not up to the standard which I have come to expect. The reading performance was good and communicated the writers story effectively.
