I’ve read many of his books. This is certainly one of my favorites. I only regret that it had to end.

Never get enough of Wilbur Smith

Nobody, and I mean nobody, can spin a good story like Wilbur. I haven’t yet read one of his books I didn’t like. I think the Courtney’s are my favorites though. You get so drawn into the stories. I wish the whole Courtney series would become a movie series, but at the same time, I know they wouldn’t come close to the imagery and character development of the books. Still… it would be awesome to see.

Great swashbuckling adventure!

This is the first book I’ve read in this series, but the story stands alone. I liked the way Smith wove the two storylines and the two timelines together, bringing the three Courtney’s together at the end. The plot did include LOTS of brutal battles with vivid descriptions of slain people, horses and elephants. However, I’ll still be looking for more books in the series.

A fabulous story

I am a Wilbur Smith fan probably listen to all the Courtney books this one was exciting from start to finish couldn’t stop listening and can’t wait for the next one the way you put Paul and Adam together in this book was amazing!

One of his best

I wish he wouldn’t beat up the protagonists so much, but regardless of that, this is one of his best books.

Captivating story

I liked how the 2 parts came together. Lots of action and engaging story. Some of Paul’s adventures and his ability to survive were a little over the top.
