Slightly disappointing

I've heard great things about the Lovecraft tales but this compendium was a bit disappointing. The best stories were great, but many were relying too much on the readers ability to imagine scary things from the otherworldly descriptions. Worth a read, but nothing compulsory.

Thrillers for an Age of General Relativity

There are so many narrators that it's hard to comment except in the most general way. They were all good. The stories feel a little dated (mostly set in the early years around WW1, I think), but not unbearably so. They definitely show the foundations of the new kind of thriller to emerge in the 20th century, the century where we began to recognize the true grandeur of the universe that more than dwarfs us as individuals. Think of ... the (later) Twilight Zone episode where the people filing onto the spacecraft realize the book is a not a manual, but a cookbook. Or Frankenstein. The Lovecraft stories are like these. I think this collection should appeal to people who like science, science fiction, thrillers. It's a hefty set, but being short fiction, you really can dip into it as it suits you.

Misleading...

the actual recordings are great. The stories are great The value is great. BUT there are issues. The stories arent broken up in a way you can easily jump to the story you want, which is a bit tedious. And the description claims this is all of Lovecraft's work... it clearly is not. kind of shady.

Snooze-fest

Too long to be fireside ghost stories, too short and limited in the telling to be anything else. The narrators did well with the material they had to work with, but these stores aren't even the least bit scary - they're barely interesting in a "let me tell you what happened to me one time" sort of way

Fun with dark slimy things

I found it to be an excellent execution of one of my favorite authors a rarity in Lovecraft fandom . I very much enjoyed it .

Amazing stories rom a differen time

H.P. Lovecraft may not be for everyone but as a unique author providing a backdrop to inspire wonder & horror you won't find better.

Great collection of Lovecraft works

Aside from Lovecraft's rather racial remarks, alot of the stories are beautifully imagined and well written

loved it. don't read it in the dark. then again maybe read it in the dark ;)
