Story
Long ago, men harnessed the Channels of Power, creating tevisrals: devices capable of manifesting magic. But men weren't the only ones to accomplish such feats. Dragons crafted the most sophisticated tevisrals. These shaped the world, defining civilization of man and elf alike. Over the centuries, the people of Kalda have fallen into a dark age, where elves are estranged from men and dragons have retreated into legend.

Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

In the realm of Isodoro, just two things stand between Alliance lands and the spears and muskets of the orcish hordes: the wizards of the Order and constant infighting amongst the orcs themselves. In the Alliance capital, young Wit has just been promoted from apprentice to full wizard - and saddled with the very unglamorous task of traveling to a distant iron mine to inspect it for fraud. Worse yet, he's partnered with Wa'llach, a drunken dwarven prisoner who's killed more people than most plagues. Yet those skills are about to become very handy.

The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Publisher's Summary
Continuing the award-winning epic of a world where faith and dreams become reality, Mythborn Three follows Masters Silbane and Kisan, the young blade-master Ash, and Princess Yetteje as they journey into the ethereal realm Arcadia, home to the Celestial Lilyth and her Aeris demons. They search for Silbane's apprentice, Arek, and the lost prince of Bara'cor, Niall, as the two explore Arcadia for clues to the mystery of Arek's origin. Is he the son of the demon queen Lilyth, as she claims? Arrayed against Lilyth and her Aeris forces are the warforged elves of the ancient archmage, Valarius Galadine. Because of the beliefs of the people of Edyn, Valarius has become more elven god than man, and prepares to wage a cataclysmic war to eradicate the demon-kind once and for all. Silbane uses his gift of dragon-sight, hoping to find his apprentice before it's too late. Kisan has other orders - kill Arek before he can destroy the world with his dark gift, even if that means killing Silbane too. Who does Arek trust? The demon queen claiming to be his mother? The masters ordered to kill him? The elven archmage who would use Arek's body as a way to escape Arcadia and wreak havoc upon Edyn? Arek must uncover the truth from beneath the lies and unlock his full potential as an adept, or he and his friends will perish.

From the Author ✨ Mistake fixed! Apologies to all!
All,
I want to apologize to Paul and anyone else who mistakenly downloaded a copy where one of the chapters had been double encoded and sounded like garbage. As soon as I found out I uploaded a corrected version. Anyone who was affected can download the book again and this problem should be fixed. If the fix works, I'd sincerely appreciate it if you could revise your review. It was an honest mistake on our part.
I also want to clear up the confusion around the book numbers. I originally wrote Books 1 and 2 in 2012. Then it got picked up by a publisher and I rewrote the entire thing. The result was a much better story with more content but streamlined to read better (professional editors are the heroes here). The result was the books expanded from Books 1 and 2 to Books 1 to 3, but the story ended in essentially the same place.
This meant that if you bought the old books with the more cartoony covers, you got the earlier story. If you then bought Book 3 thinking it was the sequel to the earlier Book 2 (which is entirely understandable), it was essentially the second half of your original Book 2. I tried my best to put this explanation into the book descriptions on Amazon but it was easy to miss. I've been trying to figure out how to fix it, but trust me... if you're someone who has complained I have noted it and I'll figure out a way to make it right.
Now for the good news: Book 4: Litany of the Cypher, the true sequel to all of this, is finished! It follows Alion Deft and the time between Duncan's curse and her becoming a herald of Lilyth. I'm just in my editing phase and pushing hard to get it out. So please stay tuned.
As always, Michael Kramer's performance is fantastic in these books. If you got a copy with the chapter messed up in Book 3, just go back and redownload it and it should be fixed.
Thank you all for your understanding, support, and patience. I am truly honored to continue this series with all of you.
Sincerely,
V. Lakshman

Lots of Epic Stuff Ensues
V. Lakshman does an outstanding job of maneuvering many fantastical factions, each with their own agendas and each not hesitating to use guile every inch of the way to complete their ultimate goal. Goals which he even manages to keep the reader/listener unsure of until near the end.
Lots of intrigue, betrayals, valor and ultimate sacrifices to sate even the most jaded of the fantasy genre. The skirmishes and battles are always narrow survivals amongst the two opponents with unexpected introductions which causes the fighting to twist in ways that neither side expected.
The story moved forward quite a bit and for those who had feared that this may have been the last book of a great trilogy, you can allay those fears for there will be at least another book.
Michael Kramer continues to perform wonderfully in narrating the book.

A great addition
I wish I had more time to sit down and read because I'm really hungry for the next book.
The ending was really epic and drew me in despite a few things.
One character's turn felt like it wasn't set up enough in this book, despite a few hints of it in the previous two. The same can be said about the unraveling/reveal that came with it.
The flight stuff and the character arc with the characters involved and the combination in the finally was well done tho and gave me a badass feel just listening to it.
