Publisher's summary

Being an undercover poison taster for the rich and famous is hard enough without being dragged into clearing the name of your former nemesis.... Especially when you think he might be guilty.

To make matters worse, Izzy and her elderly accomplice aren't the only ones digging into the murder case, and the other parties are a whole lot more dangerous. And if her old nemesis didn't do it, then the real killer won't appreciate their interference.

Throw it all together with a client from high-society hell (the same world the murder victim is from), the challenges of a new romantic relationship, and plenty of snark, poison, vengeance, and firebombs, and Izzy had better watch her back!

Another great story and performance

I really enjoyed both stories in this collection. I’m very happy that the characters are flushing out.

Happy Holidays

The Taste Society is a crazy job but intriguing. This book is funny and suspenseful with romance thrown in the mix. There are quirky and likable characters. Oliver, Izzy’s roommate who has flown home for the holidays. Etta who has very unusual skill to aid in investigations. Conner who is more 'by the book' while Izzy follows her gut.

Izzy’s Taste job begins the day after Christmas. She is protecting a socialite client, Vanessa. There will be a charity photo shoot and Izzy must ensure that Vanessa does not have an unexpected illness or death.

The murder is closer to home for Izzy. Mr. Black is the prime suspect in a murder. Mr. Black was introduced in book 1. He worked for Platypus Lending. It is the respectable lending branch for the loan shark company that Izzy owed. Black and Etta became friends. Now Etta wants Izzy’s help to prove his innocence.

Conner’s family is introduced in this story. Mae, Conner’s mom, worked as a private investigator and Harper is sister is a mechanic. Conner will find that adding Izzy to the mix has just made him even more outnumbered.
The plot is fast-paced and suspenseful

Another great book

I love the Christmas short included. Funny! Isobel continues to be admirable and I like Conner’s mom and sister. And Dudley and Meow.

Series hits its stride here

The colorful cast of characters finds cozy, comedic gold here as Etta joins Izzy’s Scooby Gang of sleuths and Mr. Black, the muscle with a heart of gold, needs saving from a murder charge. I still feel like the scenes are mere outlines, and could use more fleshing out. And, even as a cozy, the romance is beyond fade to black… like he says, “mind if I join you in the shower” and the chapter just ends! Even Stephanie Plum or Miss Fortune has more deets in the sweet nooky department.

The first 45 minutes of this book is a holiday novella that doesn’t tie into the plot of the book, but that does give us a sneak peak into Connor’s family. That makes this light, fun listen a 5 hr novella that should be purchased on sale for full value.

Izzy and Connor get a bit closer in their relationship. Izzy and her elderly neighbor gets her involved into a murder mystery that ends up almost getting them killed. Great characters and plot.
Witty, clever, and fun.
Narrator is just right for these books!

Fresh!

Intriguing background and context for the main character. Solution of mystery somewhat predictable, but redeemed by quirky and likeable characters, human attributes and motive for murderer, and a solid performance. The series is fun and holding up well so far. I'll continue with it. For those who wish to avoid such things, I'll note that it is not gory or littered with a profusion of foul language

My least favorite of the series

I struggled with the story on this one. Although I seemed to like the main characters more, it felt like a chore for the author to get make it a seamless story.
