Publisher's summary

From New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter comes the heart-stopping twenty-first installment in the electrifying FBI Thriller series.

After Agent Dillon Savich stops a crazy man from harming a pregnant woman, the man unexpectedly falls into a coma. Doctors discover a drug in his blood they can't identify, and his only identification is a yellow wristband marked E 2. Did this John Doe escape from a mental hospital? And why was he at the pregnant woman's house? When her newborn baby is kidnapped from the hospital, Savich realizes there's a connection between the kidnapping and the unconscious John Doe. DNA tests uncover a startling fact: his cells are unlike any other—he's an Enigma.

Savich, Sherlock, and an FBI team of experts must find the kidnapped baby, uncover the link, and determine what bizarre drug was used on John Doe and, most importantly, why.

Meanwhile, Liam Hennessey, aka Manta Ray, a convicted bank robber, escapes from the Federal Marshals on his transport to a federal penitentiary. He and his "handlers" are seen going into the Daniel Boone National Forest. Savich sends Agents Cam Wittier and Jack Cabot after them.

Why break out this violent criminal? Or did the safe deposit box he stole and hid before he was captured contain something critically dangerous to somone? Wittier and Cabot are in hot pursuit. What they discover turns the case sideways.

Coulter's dual-plot thriller will keep you guessing as Savich, Sherlock, Cabot, and Wittier uncover surprise after surprise in this race against the clock until the shocking conclusions.

Thoughts

This particular book really gets you thinking about genetics & DNA possibilities for research/applications. It's also a great political commentary on the far-reaching potential consequences of policy decisions on a more personal level. This entire series is awesome & the plots are complex, unique & have many fascinating characters. There are a lot of unexpected twists & turns to the various plots throughout the storyline & the ending is usually good with a few surprises thrown in.

I love Catherine Coulter's FBI Thriller books, as usual I have enjoyed this book as well as the all of the rest I have read. Once again Ms.Coulter you have written another great one ! this was the first audio book service I have ever used, and I must say I have enjoyed it. I listened to it while driving, while crocheting and even cooking diner.

[nothing nice]

Embarrassingly bad. Characters seem interesting if the story wasn't so cringe worthy. Dialogue I hope to forget.

Easily distracted

All voices fit the characters which makes or breaks an audible. Would read this author if I happened on a positive review but will not seek out. I did like the complexity of the story.

Loved it. I'm enjoying the FBI series.
I like the performance of it being a man and a woman.

Missed it

Ok I've been reading this series faithfully. I've enjoyed it fully. This is the first time I've done an Audiobook so i'm not sure if the transition was off or if it was the people who read the book to me. Something was lacking.

Not my favorite of the FBI Thriller series.

The story did not seem to be as fast past as prior books in this series. I typically like Catherine Coulter but found this one difficult to get through. Hoping the next one will be better. The performance was fair.
