Publisher's Summary

I have three confessions to make:

1. I've got the scar of a gunshot on my forehead.
2. I don't remember an entire year of my life.
3. My name is Kellen Adams...and that's half a lie.

Girl running...from a year she can't remember, from a husband she prays is dead, from homelessness and fear. Tough, capable Kellen Adams takes a job as assistant manager of a remote vacation resort on the North Pacific Coast. There amid the towering storms and the lashing waves, she hopes to find sanctuary. But when she discovers a woman's dead and mutilated body, she's soon trying to keep her own secrets while investigating first one murder...then another.

Now every guest and employee is a suspect. Every friendly face a mask. Every kind word a lie. Kellen's driven to defend her job, her friends, and the place she's come to call home. Yet she wonders - with the scar of a gunshot on her forehead and amnesia that leaves her unsure of her own past - could the killer be staring her in the face?

Can I have my money back?

This is a romance novel. It might be a good romance novel. But it is a terrible mystery/thriller. It is not clear in the publishers description that this is first and foremost a Romance. I only made it a couple of chapters in, and I should have quit after the first couple of paragraphs. If you are looking for a romance with a bit of mystery, this might be the novel for you, otherwise, steer clear.

Suspense Interruptus!

It could have been a contender, but did not rise or merge enough, to form a complete picture. Characters and events remained murky.
I clung in high anticipation to the very end, but it remained bits of good episodes, with not enough cohesiveness. It could have been fleshed out more, in order to come together, in the Reader’s mind.
Spoiler Alert !!!🚨:-I am still trying to puzzle out how Kellen got from the floor, desperately clinging with broken, slipping fingers, to the foot of the seat, to keep from being sucked out through the opening and into the atmosphere, to sitting upright, strapped in by her seat belt, sucking down oxygen from a yellow oxygen mask. 😰”Dead Girl Running.”
Maybe all will be revealed and come together at the completion of the series? Fingers crossed.

Something off about this book

I do not know what it was about this book, but it did not seem up to par with Christina Dodd's other books. I absolutely fell in love with her books with the first Virtue Falls book and have listened to them all, but this book just seemed off. I kept thinking I missed parts (explanations or parts of story lines seemed missing). Some of the dialect was very stilted also. It may have been somewhat due to the narrator, but not all. The little "mental summary" that the main character kept on other characters was a turn off also. So sad, but will probably have to get the next one just to get the answers to the questions this one left me with.

Terrible Story

This is the first book I have listened to (or read) by this author. The story is disjointed and, quite frankly, boring. The main character could be solid, but comes across as silly and ridiculous. The premise for the mystery is good, but very unlikely and unreal in the delivery. It was a struggle finish this book. No more books by this author for me.

If any book ever needed an epilogue...

it's this book! At least, _ I _ need an epilogue. I want more! Another great story by Christina Dodd. It kept me guessing. I do wish things had been wrapped up in more detail though.

What a Difficult Story to Follow

I loved the thought for the story but it had so many characters I still don’t know who the main character really is. I tried hard to like it Christina but there were too many characters, storylines, Love interests too much. But I still love you as one on my favorite authors.

Is this the same writer?!!

This book sounds like it was written by a 12 year old boy who loves Rambo movies. It is full of cliches, ridiculous plot turns and flat characters.

The narrator is simultaneously over dramatic and weirdly perky. Possibly she is trying to compensate for the poor writing quality?

I have listened to other books by this writer, and, while they were not fantastic, they were at least competently written and entertaining.

What happened?
