The cold and aloof marquess of Hawksfield is the worst peer in London. He has no friends, no fortune, and no time for fools. The dissolute ways of the ton disgust him. But when Archer assumes the identity of the mysterious and devilish Masked Marauder, he is free to do as he pleases.

Sheltered heiress Lady Briannon Findlay is a wallflower and prefers it that way. Until she meets the nefarious Masked Marauder, a gentleman thief waylaying carriages from London to Essex, who awakens sensual impulses she never knew she had. Provocative and darkly attractive, his artful seduction leaves her wanting more.

When Brynn discovers that Archer and the Masked Marauder are one and the same, trust and attraction collide. But after a murder is committed by an imposter marauder, they must risk everything to find the real killer...including their love.

Contains mature themes.

Good story. Enough that I’d like to hear the rest of the series. Interesting premise of a Robinhood type.

Good story

Story was ok. Not sure of the significance of Brianna's health issues? However, there was some suspense and surprises that provided interest and enjoyment. I often can figure out endings, but this one took me totally by surprise .

Enjoyed Paul Woodson narration. Make voices were sexy. Female voices were fine, not overdone.

This one was enjoyable enough. It wasn’t quite 5 stars, it was more like a 3.5 ⭐️ book. It moved along and had a somewhat original storyline: Robin Hood-Zorroesque with a little neoVictorian romance thrown in. The characters were very likable, the story detailed, and the passion descent. It’s not as steamy as most books in the genre. I love the writing style, not so much internal monologue. There was also lots of action and twists and a few turns. There wasn’t as much romantic angst as most contemporary romances, and that small lack of a little something I couldn’t quite put my finger on was what made it not quite 4 stars, but not really as mediocre as a 3 star review. The narration was fantastic—Paul Woodson did not disappoint. I give it stars for creativity, narrative, narration, and overall quality. I don’t regret the listen, although despite everything going on, it seemed to be missing a little something in the romance department. Overall enjoyable enough, though. I will likely continue the series.

Sweet, original, easy listen.
