But as a severely emotionally damaged man emigrating from a country whose evils he knows to one whose evils he doesn’t, Lucien soon falls into his worst habits and impulses, with La Kay as the backdrop for his lasciviousness.

What he can’t begin to fathom is that the house is watching, passing judgment, and deciding to put an end to all the sins it has been made to hold. But only after it has set itself aflame will frightened whispers reveal Lucien’s ultimate evil.

brutal, smart, beautiful and tragic. the narration was amazing. the story... was a punch in the gut. not for the faint of heart.

The performances were outstanding. The story was original and the characters well developed.

it was different.

the beginning and first Parr of the middle had my attention. the middle became too m7ch fluff and the ending made me mad I stuck with it.

This is such a sad and disturbing story. I don't normally read these kinds of book. I like getting the point of view of the house though.
