Publisher's summary

In My Long Journey Home: Discovering Life After the Game, Rick Williams bares his soul in a captivating and inspiring memoir that will appeal to both men and women alike. As a former minor league baseball player who faced the crushing disappointment of being released from the Atlanta Braves organization, Williams found himself spiraling out of control. He turned to drugs, womanizing, and other destructive behaviors to cope with the pain and loss. For years, he felt rejected and alone, and the fallout from a contentious custody battle with his two oldest children left him shattered.

But as he hits rock bottom, Williams finds a glimmer of hope when he meets a woman named Gina and later finds himself in an unexpected encounter on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. It is only when he comes face-to-face with the God he had been searching for all his life, that he is able to begin the rebuilding process he’d failed at for so many years.

My Long Journey Home is a raw and honest account of Williams' journey from the depths of despair to a place of forgiveness, self-acceptance, and triumph. Through his powerful storytelling, listeners will be inspired by his resilience and determination to overcome adversity and build a new life. It’s a story of love, hope, and the human spirit's ability to endure even the toughest of challenges. A must-hear for anyone searching for inspiration, encouragement, or a reminder of the power of redemption, leaving listeners with a renewed sense of hope and purpose.

From the Outhouse to the Penthouse!

Though the details of Rick's journey might be different than ours, the long journey home is one we all have to make. I appreciated his brutal honesty and the ownership of his choices. Dreams are a necessity of life--they provide purposefull goals to strive for; but they need to be held loosely because when they turn into nightmares we can find ourselves, like Rick, absolutely devastated and hopeless. This was a heart-wrenching but encouraging life-story because Rick found his way home; he found the hope we all need to find in God.
