Publisher's Summary

President Bill Clinton's My Life is the strikingly candid portrait of a global leader who decided early in life to devote his intellectual and political gifts, and his extraordinary capacity for hard work, to serving the public.

It shows us the progress of a remarkable American who, through his own enormous energies and efforts, made the unlikely journey from Hope, Arkansas, to the White House - a journey fueled by an impassioned interest in the political process that manifested itself at every stage of his life.

NOT "COMPLETE"

Don't buy this thinking you're getting Volumes 1 and 2 - you're getting volume 1 with about an hour extra, for twice the price!!

"Narrated by the author" is a little misleading as its narrated by the cowriter, not the President. But he has a pleasant voice and does a great job.

It's good, narrated well, with a foreword by the man himself.

Vital for understanding modern day politics

Great story, well told, well performed. The presidential years start to sound a bit like resume reading, but that’s to be expected of any presidential memoir. The lead up to the presidency is the most gripping portion.

Great Story, but some serious production issues

I thoroughly enjoyed thus autobiography. I’ve bee an audible member for years, have listened to over 100 books and have never written a review. I do do this time, not to critique the story, but to express my disappointment with the presentation and production of this book. The description clearly leads you to believe that the story is read by the author and it is not. Why on earth did the publisher chose to mislead? There was no need for that. Second, this is the most poorly edited audiobook I’ve EVER listened too. There are dozens of long pauses as the book plays and then repeated sentences. It’s as irritating as a poorly edited free Kindle book. The story is good and carries the day, but my opinion of Books on Tape, who copy-writed this has sure gone down. It really needs revised.

A very good read.

You get a very good look at a president that was a human being. There are times of genuine emotion that FAR out weigh the occasional moments of lists of staff names (tedious and dull). A different style than that of G W Bush's book but both are worth a listen.

Name Drop Abound

The story itself was great and the narrator was easy to listen to. I do wish that the story would have continued past his presidency. This book would be 15percent shorter without needless name drops.

My Life

I deeply respect President Clinton, and appreciate this perspective view into events that I lived through as an adult. Clinton was a brilliant though flawed politician who sought to celebrate and protect American diversity of race, religion, heritage, culture, etc., believing that fundamentally we are far more alike than we are different. He recognized the equal value of women in the workplace, and had many women placed in powerful positions for the first time. He sought to make America more fiscally responsible, and the world a better place as he brokered peace in Northern Ireland and worked with leaders bitterly divided in Israel and Palestine. He took readers frankly through the events that led to his impeachment.
This book started with Clinton's early years, being raised by a single Mom in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It's all very interesting, though very detailed, so set aside a good bit of time for this one. The ONE reason I didn't give the story it' 5th star was the author's habit of naming by full name EVERYONE he wrote about.

CAUTION! BOOK NOT READ BY BILL CLINTON

I was very disappointed when I discovered this book is not read by Bill Clinton. The thumbnail shows the title "My Life Bill Clinton" and has "Read by the Author" next to the title. Call me stupid because I thought I could trust Audible. I fell for the classic bait and switch. I tried to give the book a chance, but the more I listened, the more annoyed I got. Be forewarned, this book is not read by Bill Clinton. Had I known that before buying, I most likely would have purchased the book anyway and not been disappointed and annoyed. Audible ruined my book experience.

CLINTON

Great book. Long and love every minute of it. Clinton tackles all the major events of his Presidency with honesty and tells humerous stories from his childhood. This autobiography is a must have in collections of Presidential bios. There's a magic to listening to Bill's own words. This book reads well sequentially with Bush's Decision Points.
