Publisher's Summary

USA Today bestselling author Vivienne Lorret continues her charming new trilogy with a bluestocking whose search for information on the mating habits of scoundrels has her stumbling upon the missing heir to an earldom...in the London underworld.

Jane Pickerington never intended to start a brawl in a brothel. She only wanted to research her book. Yet when her simple study of scoundrels goes awry, she finds herself coming to the rescue of a dark, enigmatic stranger… who turns out to be far more than an average rake out for a night of pleasure. He's positively wild!

Only the most feral and cunning could have survived foundling homes and work houses. Orphaned as an infant, Raven never had another name. At least… not until he meets her. Now he's face-to-face with the one person who recognizes the strange birthmark on his arm and can reinstate him to his blue-blooded birthright.

All at once, Raven's life takes a turn. His knowledge of dark alleys and gaming halls never prepared him for gilded ballrooms. So Jane becomes his tutor. Yet, the more lessons in decorum she offers, the more this untamed scoundrel wants to teach her all the ways to be wicked.

On the fence

I have to say I’m on the fence with this one. I enjoyed the story and there were plenty of moments where the heroine had me laughing out loud. However, the story itself I was missing something. It seems as if there was a lot of preparation for the hero to be a member of nobility even before his identity was revealed to his grandfather. In fact I would say over half of the book was geared towards either grooming him for the role or finding out if he was actually nobility. It became quite tedious at times when I want it him to come on out with it. And then I felt the mystery surrounding him and how he survived was played out too long. It was a drip, drip, drip kind of thing with a lot of dead ends and a rushed ending to wrap everything up with a tidy little bow. On the whole I enjoyed the story but there were parts that just didn’t make sense to me.

LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOOOOVED IT!

This is the second book in the series and I think I loved it even more than the first one! The chemistry between Jane and Raven is smoking, literally! ;) There were plenty of laugh out loud and sizzling moments and the amount of drama was just right. I especially liked that the first few chapters (maybe even the third of the book?) were only telling the first 24-48 hours of what happened when the characters met - thought that was really clever. Now I am going to check out whether there are any more books in this series! :D
