He would be handling her bags, but Maya didn't let that stop a friendship waiting to happen. Angelou was generous, challenging, and inspirational. Like a mother to him, she was selfless.

Delightful from beginning to end

Found this book to be a description of Travis Smiley becoming the radio and television star that he is and how Maya was there the whole way providing love, guidance, and wisdom. Super happy I purchased it and will begin purchasing some of Maya's books.

Smiley's Friendship with the Amazing Maya

Very interesting, well told story of Tavis Smiley's unexpected meeting and many years of friendship with the remarkable Maya Angelou -- her amazing qualities, insights and life shine through during page after page of listening.

Inspiring & warmer

This was an enjoyable story. Dr. Angelou was such a big figure and a National treasure, that I enjoyed hearing stories about her. I am a big fan of Tavis, but I did not like listening to his monotone voice for this long. Great book though.

The love between the old and young make and female the difference in generations
