Publisher's summary

Author Aideen T. Finnola’s life has consisted of a series of trials and obstacles. She was raised by abusive parents who joined a Christian cult when she was eight. She left the cult at 23 only to go straight into a 20-year marriage with an abusive husband who, as a closeted gay man, had falsely represented himself from the start.

In My Exquisite Purple Life, Finnola offers a collection of stories from her life that share the many challenges she’s faced and the wisdom she’s gained through healing her pain. She tells how by her middle 30s, after having suffered decades of abuse, neglect, and rejection from even before she was born, she was a broken woman. Finnola was a pack-a-day smoker, a daily drinker, chronically overweight, had had two extramarital affairs, and was on a high dose of antidepressants because she seriously contemplated suicide more than once.

By all rights and reasons, she never should have made it, but she did. My Exquisite Purple Life reveals the techniques and realizations that aided her transformation, offering others encouragement, hope, and inspiration.

A keeper and a reread

What an amazing story, she goes through such a grand life change and her advice as well as how she tells her story makes it very easy to understand how she changed and how others can too. Other books on spirituality and how to make your life better can present ways of change that seem drastic or too hard to reach let alone continue or complete. This book provides sujestions on perspective changes and tools that I strongly feel anyone could easily follow and still have wonderful and amazing, life changing results. So wonderful, everyone should read this book at least once in their life if not several times to remind them of their own strength and capability to implement change

Best Book of 2018!

Okay, I am a self help and new age junkie. I am a coach who has done over 2000 hours of coaching and who has studied hundreds and maybe a thousand of healers and teachers over the past decade. I learn fast and am a sponge. I have been told many times I learned in a decade what takes most people a lifetime.

And I got to the point that I, quite frankly, that I wasn’t learning anything new from anyone. Gone were the days were I would frantically write pages of notes with every new teaching. I had done so much “channeling” and teaching and learning, nothing was new AND very little impacted me anymore.

Until this book...

And that is why I share who I am. So if, like me, you have read, studied, channeled, and taught so much that you are super particular about where you invest your time and in who... O want to say, Aideen Finnola and her beautiful book is well worth your time.

Will I say this book had profound incredible life shattering teachings? I will not. And I will. ;) Because many of them were actually quite simple, and, on the surface, well known by many. And yet, somehow, with some sort of exquisite purple magic, Aideen brought more life, application, tangibility, practicality and truth to so many concepts. And just joy. I can’t really explain it. But joy was brought in.

She also, to my great appreciation, explained why many self help and new age teachings don’t work (for her) and why they just make no sense. Honestly, I appreciated it because it validates my own feelings on the very same topics. And I am so grateful someone else was courageous and bold enough to say it all!

Aideen not only helped me not to feel alone in my many unique beliefs and experiences, she gave me new perspective and further clarification on so many things.

At one point, in my first third of the book, I was loving the audible and Aideen’s narration so much I decided that only this audio book should be available to people, because listening to Aidy tell her story was incredibly profound and I couldn’t imagine people just reading it.

And now, I take it all back. Because I have so many things I would have wanted to write down and remember that now, I will buy the book, read it again and highlight the very powerful things that I know I want to never forget. That said, I still think all should listen to the Audible first.

Also Aidy, I was one of the people that said “Thank you!” as you began part of your epilogue. ;) It was definitely needed and made things whole for me.

At the very least, this book has given me the courage and excitement to write my own book. And, if I allow it, It has given me this shiny exquisite purple thread I can weave into the tapestry of my story.

So Aidy, for this beautiful thread and all you went through to share it with me and many threads for others, I thank you. And I bow to your strength, dedication, your “oh yeah? Watch me!”s, your self love, and your love for others.

This book is a must read. And I never “should” on people... but Aidy was WAY cool enough to take part of her own book to tell people they should read Harry Potter (I wholeheartedly agree)... and I say, stop what you are doing and reading right now and read My Exquisite Purple Life! You won’t regret it.

Wow! What an inspiring story!

This is what I love about Aideen's book: She is UNAPOLOGETIC. How refreshing and empowering. I'm so happy she narrated her book. Her voice is rich and melodic and draws the listener into the story of years and years of abuse. I had no idea what a "straight spouse" was before I read and listened to this book. Aideen is a trail blazer and I'm pretty sure her story is going to help a lot of people who are suffering. Highly recommend!
