Publisher's summary

Since the appearance of the alien creatures, the world has drastically changed. Electricity still has not been restored, and people are panicking. The creatures that hadn’t fled the area to chase the moon are hiding in the shadows while guarding their offspring. Infected people are growing ill and morphing into something sinister. Losing their humanity, their only instinct is the primal need to feed their insatiable hunger. Follow our survivors as they navigate the second day of this strange and dangerous new world.

They survived day two but what does day three have in store?

Dan still hasn’t found Gianna nor has he got rid of cowboy Travis yet and cowboy Travis is proving to be a real nut job. Gianna is still with Charles and they’re trying to make their way to fort Pendleton and Charles is carrying Devon because he was attacked by one of the creatures. Oh Cheryl and Adrian also went to Fort Pendleton and dropped off James and Elizabeth Fitzgerald soon regrets it. Everyone is learning that the bird moth man like creatures are afraid of the light and they’re multiplying but even worse there’s an even crazier threat to the survivors. You know you’re having a bad day when you’re afraid of toddlers and all folks alike. This is day two and I cannot wait to listen to date three there’s so much happening in this book I haven’t even mentioned Jenny and her two children and the new tagalong Becky who may not tagalong for that long. Two of the survivor groups meet Josh and Cindy are still going strong and they also have a new tag along and George and I don’t think Cindy trust George but I guess we’ll find out in book 3. It seems like every time one of the survivors figures things out things get worse especially when they learn men can be pregnant this is such a great book I can’t wait to dive into book 3 because OMG they’re so good! Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

The Survival of Humanity

Mutation is a well written book with amazing characters that are fighting to survive in a post alien world of cat and mouse. Our favorite and not so favorite characters are back, and if day one wasn't bad enough, day two brings a new enemy of mutated humans and alien spawns. A rag-tag group of survivors are doing their best to make through everything that is being thrown at them, but when will it end and what do these things want! If you love books that are descriptive, suspenseful, fast-paced, and full of twists and turns, I highly recommend this book to you. I received this book for free upon my request. I am happy I did because it is a roller coaster ride of non-stop chills and thrills. I am leaving my honest and unbiased review here voluntarily of my own free will.

The day after

This is the second installment of the When Darkness Falls series. It's the day after the night events covered in book 1. In this book, the groups that are featured in Book 1 are starting to meet each other and coalesce into slightly larger groups. We're starting to see more of the personality interactions between characters as the panic from book 1 eases a bit and exhaustion sets in. A new challege emerges for our survivors that may end up pitting them against each other.

Survival at any cost

Received audio copy from the author, this is an honest review. Narrated superbly by Julie Branc, Mutation continues the haunting reality faced by those that survived the first assault by the winged alien beasts. It doesn't any easier as the creatures were one threat but how does humanity handle those bitten and slowly becoming a very dangerous creatures themselves... barely human but at the same time forcing those that become their victims to have the deep consideration of murdering them. This is the struggle Dan and Travis face... can either guy kill a child warping around them, where a vehicle is their shelter to falling prey to a torturous death or becoming a mindless dangerous zombie. No easy path forward for any of these people as humanity is collapsing around them as they hold on to whatever hope that can be found.

You'll be enthralled by what unfolds and definitely hungry for the next book.

Highly recommended.

Great series

I was given this book for free.

This is number 2 in the series, and it's as good as number 1.

Great narration, and I recommend it!

It's getting more creepy

This author is killing me with curiosity one book at a time!!! As if prehistoric creatures killing people isn't enough, now people are infected and acting like the creatures on a killing mission. This made
my hackles rise and upset my stomach. Travis is such an annoyance plus a major jerk. Can this get any worse???? I'm guessing yes, yes it can. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life.
