Publisher's Summary

Director, writer, and actor Jay Chandrasekhar tells the hilarious history of his comedy group, Broken Lizard, and the making of the cult film Super Troopers, as well as the currently filming Super Troopers 2.

Jay Chandrasekhar has spent the past two decades writing, directing, and acting in film and TV. With his comedy group, Broken Lizard, he has produced and directed beloved movies such as Super Troopers, Beerfest, and Club Dread. Now, with the coming release of the long-awaited Super Troopers 2, Jay is ready to tell the ridiculous, madcap, dead-honest story of how he built his career, how he formed Broken Lizard, and, ultimately, how he made Super Troopers.

Jay grew up Indian American in the lily-white suburbs of Chicago, and he had an outsider's perspective from the beginning. Instead of taking the traditional acting path, he formed his own troop, wrote his own scripts, and made movies his own way. And he had an incredibly good time doing so, as listeners will learn in this hilarious story about making it in Hollywood and making one of the best-loved and most-watched comedies of all time. Part humorous memoir, part film study, this book will inform, entertain, and tell listeners what drinking multiple bottles of maple syrup is really like.

Broken lizard behind the scenes

It was interesting to hear jays perspective about how he got his start as well as lizards. Follows the rhythm and jokes of the movies which I enjoy so it met my expectations.

Don't doubt yourself, This is gold

If you are a fan of anything from the Broken Lizard crew, this is an (audio)book for you. I've read the book and listened to the audio version, and to hear Jay Chandrasekhar tell all the stories is like listening to a Broken Lizard movie. Great listen, and so much laughter!

Gotta Love It!

It’s Fucking Hilarious. I hear from the man himself regale us with tales of how we grew up, got into show business and just his interests in movies, tv and in his career to say the least is just great it’s just a funny thing to hear from him. This is worth the time and well worth the laugh. Jay Chandrasekhar’s performance almost makes you feel as if you were right there with him going along his journey as a member of Broken Lizard.

If afterwards, you feel the next to rewatch all his movies, don’t worry, I’m doing it myself.

Funny, real and great for a road trip!

My husband and I listened to this on a road trip together. It’s often hard to have two ppl. get in to an audiobook but it is broken up by really well told stories, lessons and anecdotes and his voice is highly listenable across a variety of landscapes :) if you grew up during the Supertrooper time it’s even more engaging!

Great insight on Broken Lizard

It was interesting. If you're a fan of Broken Lizard, this is a must read.

The last chapter gives the author's very informed opinion about the current state of the film industry. I really recommend it to anybody who is, at least, remotely interested in movies and television.

This book was fucking awesome.

I loved every second of this, and the fact that Jay narrated the whole thing makes it so much better. So awesome, makes me more of a fan than I was and want to see everything he and the crew have worked on.
