Publisher's Summary

Charlotte Holmes, Lady Sherlock, investigates a puzzling new murder case that implicates Scotland Yard inspector Robert Treadles in the USA Today best-selling series set in Victorian England.

Inspector Treadles, Charlotte Holmes’ friend and collaborator, has been found locked in a room with two dead men, both of whom worked with his wife at the great manufacturing enterprise she has recently inherited.

Rumors fly. Had Inspector Treadles killed the men because they had opposed his wife’s initiatives at every turn? Had he killed in a fit of jealous rage because he suspected Mrs. Treadles of harboring deeper feelings for one of the men? To make matters worse, he refuses to speak on his own behalf, despite the overwhelming evidence against him.

Charlotte finds herself in a case strewn with lies and secrets. But which lies are to cover up small sins, and which secrets would flay open a past better left forgotten? Not to mention, how can she concentrate on these murders when Lord Ingram, her oldest friend and sometime lover, at last dangles before her the one thing she has always wanted?

This series is fantastic

Murder on Cold Street is the best book yet in the series. But it is essential that you read them in chronological order.
Just amazing... you must read this series!

What a whirlwind!

I loved it! The story never stopped moving as it was bringing all the pieces together. The growing heat between Charlotte and Ashe is wonderful and seductive.

Loved everything about it

Loved the story and loved the development among characters.
Please don't let us wait another year!!!

I hope the relationship between the Lady Sherlock and Lord Ingram evolves some more. We live in a sad world, a little fiction romance tangled with a mystery is beautiful.

Intricately woven

I am forever grateful for creative entertaining and thoughtful novels. Sherry Thomas' words with Kate Reading's voice bring to life another well thought out tale with breathtaking results. No matter what, I will forever be a fan.

Like the original Sherlock, in a corset

I like how the author wrote the character of Lady Sherlock. She created a female Sherlock, with the quirks and oddities that most Sherlockians can identify. A dash of sociopath, a minor case of Bipolar Disorder, and a hint of Savant Syndrome, and topped off with a smattering of Asperger's Syndrome. Some have complained about her focus on sweets, cakes, and worrying about maximum tolerable chins. That doesn't bother me, but I think I could do without the constant "will they - won't they" between her and Lord Ingram. It's not that distracting, however, I do tend to zone out when they "flirt."
My other favorite character is Mrs. Watson. She is a rich lady, but not a Lady. She is a widow, which allows her more freedom than most ladies in her standing would have had in that era.
Finally, I adore Kate Reading as the narrator. I actually found this series after listening to her narrate the Anne Rice books, and The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club Series. She does both female and male voices well - easy to tell which characters are who!

Cerebral

This is not a book for me to listen to while doing other things. I had to really listen to follow a most complicated story, but It’s well written with a great reader. A challenge for my tired brain😂

Racy for the time

I enjoyed the book but this time round the story is more involved around Lord Ingram and Charlotte Holmes. Every chance given it goes into their budding romance. This is kind of turning me off to reading the next novel. There was not enough explanation about what truly happened.

once again, perfection! I desperately want the next book. I love how each book closes gaps and refers to information from the previous books. it all ties together so well.

More like a romance novel than a mystery

Disappointing. I looked forward to this release however it was more like a romance novel than a mystery. I do not care for “Sherlock” who seems like a spoiled child. Cake, cake, cake. A man like Ash would certainly not be attracted to such a female.
