Simply Delightful

This series was an accident turned love affair! Each book was just well written and read, the storyline never felt forced or overdone. Would re read each pne!

An intriguing mystery!

This is such an interesting story! Yes there is a murder. But the story is really about all of the mysteries surrounding the murder and who was involved and when and where and how and why. It has a very happy ending but near the end you worry about how the happy ending is going to happen! The reason I only gave it a four for the performance is that the narrator, who is the author, kept inhaling noisily and, it sounded like he was sniffling back through his nose, frequently. It was distracting and annoying. At first I thought that it was meant to be a peculiarity of one of the characters. But then I realized that it happened for every character. If you can overlook that, then this is a very enjoyable story. No bad language. No sex. No blood and gore. Really quirky characters. I intend to read the other Mrs Pargeter books as well. This was my first one.

Extremely amusing tale

I admit I like old-fashioned, droll stories. Simon Brett, as author and narrator, delivers in the Mrs. Pargeter series. This entry diverted me mightily during a few days of soul crushing international events. The value of escapist entertainment during very tough times should never be dismissed. Thanks, Mr Brett and Audible.
