Publisher's Summary

She’s hard up. He’s just hard.... After an ill-fated one-night stand, Wyatt Landry was the last person I ever expected to see again. By design, mind you, as I spent the last two years avoiding him. He was only ever meant to be a good time - a really good time - and now, thanks to one teensy little mistake, he’s back in my life and wielding an entirely different set of tools.

It’s not like I intentionally hired a bogus contractor to redo our chapel, and Lord knows I never imagined Wyatt would ride up in his pickup truck, like a knight in thigh-hugging blue jeans, to save the day. But here he is, and to make matters worse, he’s every bit as charming as I remember, and before I can fully process his reappearance in my life, he has my six-year-old daughter wrapped around his finger, my parents eating out of the palm of his hand, and my best friend shipping us like we’re some celebrity couple.

Thankfully, working in the death industry, I’ve mastered the skill of compartmentalization. Keeping my growing feelings tucked away should be a piece of cake. Except, seeing him every day definitely throws a wrench in that plan. Before I know it, we’re trading favors for dates, and as much I don’t want to admit it, the feelings for him I thought were dead and buried are taking root and growing into something that looks a lot like love. Daigle Family Funeral Services...don’t be caught dead any place else.

Absolutely Hysterical! A favorite for sure!

Get this audio now! The writing and narration were perfection! Prissy makes this book special, but the premise, the witty banter and laugh out loud scenes make it worth a credit!

HAD POTENTIAL... WENT TOTALLY DOWNHILL!!

I have been having bad luck with my choices lately and Joe Arden is very seldom a wrong choice but he could not erase the damage. I did not finish the listen!

it was a book

I finished the "book" today. 2 stars. Ok characters, but no plot. It would have been better written as journaling or diary entries of how this couple met and just had a normal vanilla relationship. Bleh. I even got bored at the smut. There were def some very conservative values peaking through, but the author kept it kinda open for everyone, but the characters complaining about woke city folk just rubbed me wrong.

Read it if you want to just have useless ramblings about toxic pasts and trauma that they don't go to therapy for and a 6 year old who talks like she's 15 (not sure the author has ever met a 6 year old by the way this one is written).

You need some wood in your life!

This book was amazeballs! It was funny and sweet. Prissy, by far was my favorite character. I was cracking up immediately.
This is my first time listening to Vanessa Edwin and she was fantastic! Her voices were spot on.
I kept expecting the third quarter breakup drama that inevitably happens in romance, but there was none here. Just a story of a single mom with a man who falls in love with her and her daughter.
This book will give you the fuzzies.
Read it!

So glad I ignored the title ….

I almost didn’t get this because I didn’t like the title or the quip beneath it. But I heart eyes Joe Arden’s voice it’s so soothing and easy to listen to plus the reviews we’re raving. And rightly so. This was cute!!! It was funny!!! It was special!!! I laughed I cried I swooned. I added it to my favorites library because I’ll be reading this again!!! Don’t let the title turn you off this worthy story.

You may die from all the swooning

Warning: you may die from all the swooning. Which can be disturbing, because the romance is surrounded by death. Let me explain.

You won’t get too emotional about the various deaths in the story, because none of them concern the main characters–except past death, but you won’t get a lot of drama about it. Though, because empathy is a real thing, you may experience some sadness through Whitney–though she’s in constant contact with death, she still has deep feelings. And still, this morbid atmosphere is also the source of most of the laughs you’ll experience! Prissy, Whitney’s daughter, has such a nonchalant attitude that she’ll keep you entertained–I found her a bit annoying at times though.

As for the romance, it’s one without real drama. The story is about the slow building of Whitney and Wyatt’s relationship, from a simple annoyance to a very emotional happy ending. There’s no conflict here, just two people learning about each other. And you’ll looooove Wyatt. He’s almost perfect, with just enough sass to not make him a sissy–he’s a manly man in touch with his feelings.

I quite enjoyed this very original, extra swoony, a little bit sexy, romcom.

The narrators were almost perfectly cast. The female narrator did an amazing job, her voices for all characters were spot on. I felt the male narrator lacked a bit of the playfulness I associated with Wyatt, but he also did a great job. Both narrators translated the energy and humor of the story.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 A Heartfelt Delight!

I love, love, loved this book, it is a fabulously delightful story that grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book. I am not sure how this is my first book written by Heather M. Orgeron, I can only say it certainly will not be my last. She is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the storylines she created are interesting and original and the characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they were easy to care about too. Whitney Daigle’s family runs a funeral home, when she got pregnant at sixteen, her mother and father were supportive, now she is a single mom of a six year old daughter, Prissy, and helps run the funeral home with her family. When contractors leave her in a bind she needs to find another contractor to finish the job, her friend suggests someone but since she has history with that someone she says no but that did not stop them from asking him. Wyatt Landry is back in town, he bought a new fixer upper to live in and wants to get his construction business off the ground. His friend has a proposition for him, a job that would give him the opportunity to get his name known with the people in town. He was not expecting the job to be a chapel in a funeral home and he was not expecting to see her, the one he had a memorable one night stand with. She was not exactly happy to see him but he did not feel the same and he made it a game to get her to spend time with him. These two were great together, her parents thought so too and meddled whenever they could. Her daughter Prissy was not only a scene stealer but a stealer of hearts, she sure had mine, loved her quirkiness and her brilliant mind, six years old going on 30. She stole Wyatt’s heart and his dog, formally known as Rufus’ heart, her and that you tube was a riot. This wonderful RomCom is cleverly plotted with the perfect balance of drama, humor and witty dialogue, heartfelt emotions and a fabulous, feel good romance. Heather M. Orgeron, thank your for this amazing story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin are mega talented narrators and voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit the character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Joe Arden played Wyatt’s role with perfection, Vanessa Edwin did the same for Whitney, Prissy’s role was adorably done, too. Both were fantastic at performing the roles of the secondary character as well. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhances an already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Wish there was a Book 2...

Joe and Vanessa are top notch narrators for this novel. I snort giggled my way through this hard to put down, fast paced book. I'll be listening to this again and again. The characters, including the parents/grandparents were stellar. Miss Priss really needs her own story! A credit well spent.
