But then she opens her mouth and asks for me, introducing herself as Courtney, my new hire.

Courtney. Not Court, like the application said.

And I realize there’s been a mistake.

I can’t have this woman working here. Living on my property. Distracting me. I mean, my staff.

No. She can’t work for me. End of story.

Except she won’t leave. She even threatens to sue me.

Fine. If she won’t let me fire her before she even starts, then I’ll just have to make her leave on her own.

Loved it.. but..

The absolute only thing that annoyed me about this book was the constant back and forth narration. I LOVE that its a duet, but after a while, the constant chapter changes even having some that are less than 1 minute were extremely annoying. I loved the story though.

Interesting writing style

I thought the immediate POV switch was going to irritate me but I ended up liking the fact that I didn’t have to wait to see how each character felt about events. I definitely don’t regret the credit spent. I’d listen to it again!

As always SJ Tilly delivered! I enjoyed the Mountain Boss from the softie grumpy MMC, the FMC who does not give up and the Black Mountain Lodge employees to the plot and setting of the book. I particularly liked this one because the communication between the main characters was good albeit somethings can be forgotten they would give one the benefit of the doubt.

Also, to anyone who sees this, do you know any mountain lodge where I can find a Sterling? lol but kidding aside the book was amazing. It had a good balance of humor romance and a little bit of suspense

The narrators were amazing in portraying the characters. Its a bonus that the audiobook was a duet.

SJ bought us to the mountains gang, and she can do no wrong! She pulls us in with a new pair that will pull at your heartstrings. Sterling Black will make you fall in deep! And you will love Courtney and root for her every step! Can’t wait for Mountain Daddy!

Fun

This was a fun book that was an easy listen. The narrators did the best job they could and I do like duel perspective but the one paragraph in each voice with over 100 chapters was just annoying after a while. I wish they were just talking instead of “chapter xx, name of character, one or two paragraphs read” repeat over 100 times. It truly took away from the flow of the story.
I do wish we had more background and depth of characters more in the beginning of the book so I could feel for them. When we did hear their stories a bit, I did tend to root for their romance. I did like the bit of action.
It had good bones, wish it were deeper.
