Publisher's summary

All I want is one night.

One night away from the falling down brownstone filled with my three best friends, a broody billionaire, and our seven children. Oh, and you can’t forget those adorable raccoons.

But the universe apparently has other ideas because I get drunk and sleep with the baseball player.
Now two little lines turn my escape into a completely new adventure. But we’re just going to co-parent not get into anything serious.

No matter how many times I tell Cortney Miller, who is now sharing my bed and watching my every move, that we’re not meant to be, he won’t let go.

Is it possible he could be more than just the mother maker?

Authors Note: Mother Maker is book two of the Momcoms Series and features an accidental pregnancy romance between a professional baseball player and a fun carefree single mom. Guaranteed to have some laughs with this one bed trope meddling family romcom.

A Wonderfully Charming Story & Listen🎧

The first book of the “Momcoms” series was absolutely brilliant, and I figured it would definitely be a hard act to follow, especially in a multi-author series, but Jenni Bara does not disappoint and this second book is just as amazing as the first, “Mother Faker”. I recommend starting with the first book, not only does it lay down the foundation for the series, get to know the moms, their children, Beckett and their living arrangement. “Mother Maker” is Dylan and Cortney’s story and like the first book I loved everything about it, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. I am also loving the cohesiveness of the overall arc regarding the house and the dynamic of everyone who lives there. Dylan is a single mom of the eldest kid in the house, Liam, a fifteen-year-old who is very protective of his mom. She is free spirited and on the quirky side, ran daycare centers and is looking to expand and open up more locations, in the meantime she helps take care of the kids in the house that they are all living in, the dilapidated brownstone that Delia inherited. There is never a dull moment in that house, four moms, seven kids and Beckett, plus who knows how many other critters and creatures live there, which adds to all the fun. Cortney Miller, a professional baseball player, did not know why his team traded him mid-season, but he is the new catcher for the Boston Rev’s, a team Beckett and his family own. Cortney has his own quirks and superstitions, and when he sees that his lucky socks are missing he thinks he knows who took them, the boy with the red hair, who lives in the same house as Beckett, so he goes there hoping to retrieve them. When he gets to the house, a brownstone in disrepair, he thinks he is getting punked, and he is certainly going to get something straight out of a snerf gun if he is not careful. It turns out he was not punked, he just stepped into an alternate universe, the momcoms universe, and what an experience it was, from the extravagant fees for ducking cursing to expectant raccoons. The best of his visit was the gorgeous ginger he met, Dylan, and the steamy night they spend together. He does not do relationships during baseball season, but he could not get her out of his mind and when he got back in town, he paid her another visit. And when he learns of her unexpected pregnancy, he steps up to the plate and wants to be by her side. So the brownstone gains another resident, but he has to gain the acceptance and approval of the other moms and kids, with his toughest challenge being Liam. I adored Cortney, he is charming and caring, and most importantly perfect for Dylan and Liam, too. This is a wonderful story, one that will put a smile on your face and keep it there the entire time and for some time after. I loved all the drama, the humor and brilliant dialogue, the twists, the heartfelt emotions and the fabulous romance. Jenni Barra, thank you for this wonderful story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Teddy Hamilton joins Maxine Mitchell for this second book of the series. Mitchell’s outstanding performance of bringing the characters to life continues and Teddy Hamilton falls right into his roles like the natural talent he is and has, and he, too, delivers an outstanding performance. He aced it as Cortney, grasping all sides of his personality, from his uptightness to his caring and loving side. Mitchell’s Dylan is perfection, from her free spirited quirkiness to her strengths and insecurities. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’s emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates this already amazing story to another level. Their comedic timing is amazing too. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

So Ducking Awesome!

And another book I couldn't get enough of! Just like with 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑭𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒓, I spent much of the time laughing out loud! Once I started this one, I couldn't put it down.

I adored Cortney Miller! He was a beautifully chiseled, hilarious character, much like Beckett was. I loved how he was with Dylan when they met. He was superstitious, so, as Dylan liked to say, the universe meant for them to meet!

I loved Dyl in book 1, so seeing her get her story was a delight! I loved that she was the head mom of the kids, watching them and caring for them all while her besties worked. The was also the eccentric, laid back, "be one with the universe" type of girl and I loved that. I was born in the wrong era, I used to tell my mama, so I related to her and her thinking in so many ways! When she meets Cortney....well the universe definitely had some sparks flying between them!

When Cortney & Dyl meet, one night turns into.....well, 9 months and the fun is just getting started for them.

𝑇𝑒𝑑𝑑𝑦 𝐻𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑡𝑜𝑛 & 𝑀𝑎𝑥𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑀𝑖𝑡𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑙 truly brought Cortney & Dylan to life. From the laughs to the oh 💩moments to the beautiful kids and all the besties, you could feel it playing out like a movie as you listened. It definitely was hard to keep a straight face with these two narrators narrating!

𝙹𝚎𝚗𝚗𝚒 𝙱𝚊𝚛𝚊'𝚜 ability to create the second MomCom book just as hilarious and spicy as the first, was beautiful. She has made it on my list of authors to read more of, that's first sure!

Loved this book and audio

Teddy and Maxine were amazing. I loved this story being told and felt it too. The struggle Courtney has and Dylan always there and her calm presence. Maxine really gave her a sense of calm I couldn’t picture in the books. Loved it and it takes an awesome book to make an awesome audio!

Heartwarming & Hilarious!!!

I love the accidental pregnancy trope and this one does it well!

Dylan is the mom of a teenage boy and a total hippie. She believes the universe has its own plan and good things will come. She sees auras and takes everything in strides. I loved her personality. She also has a hilarious ability to “throw” her voice and imitate others. She’s also not looking for anything serious. She’s focused on helping her friends raise their kids and she owns a chain of daycares. She’s a busy lady!

Cortney is very focused on his career as well. He’s a senior player on his pro-MLB team as the catcher and is so busy with traveling. He’s not ready to settle down yet but does want to someday. And he just recently transferred to Boston to work for Beckett Langfield, whose wife, Liv, just so happens to be best friends with Dylan.

But a pair of missing “game” socks and pro-ball player superstition leads Cortney to the brownstone housing the Mom Com. Dylan takes the opportunity for what it is, one night with a super hot pro athlete.

The hilarity that ensues when Cortney doesn’t want it to only be one night, Dylan ends up pregnant, and Cortney attempts to move into the Brownstone. The boys in the house are prone to pranks and Cortney and Beckett having a history leads to lots of funny interactions as well.

Cortney also ends up being a serious Golden Retriever boyfriend! The end is so sweet. I loved the way this book fit into the series and kept the story going.

The audiobook performances were fantastic! Maxine really does a fabulous job differentiating between all the female characters. The voices she uses and the personalities really come through. And Teddy did an excellent job of keeping “alive” the spirit of the characters that Joe voiced in book 1. It was a wonderful listening experience!
