change in voice

nothing against this new voice but I much prefer the old one I think this is due to the voices that are now cemented from the other guy in the previous books. however still a fantastic read

Enjoyed the story but...

I did not like thos books version of Sanguin's voice. He did not sound Texan at all, and I am from there. Otherwise, nice enough reading and, as usual, good story.

Good series continuation

Like the previous 4 books but at a slightly diminished pace, it is filled with ear-tickling one-liners. Without detracting from the originality of the the story details, you can see here (as previously) the Buffy/Bella story elements, plus Lyra's Texan and I think a nod to Harry P. The older-guys para-romance aspect is bizarre enough to feel comedic rather than weird. As Valkyrie struggles with her identity and actually becomes more like her chosen name (the name thing is such a standard trope), for me the increase in fight scenes is more a distraction than an entertainment. But then I am not the target audience. The viral menace theme seems so presentient. I like Brian's various voices almost as much as Degas, and they carry nicely when condensing this book to under 6 hours.

the story was great, but...

I loved the story as always. from the first paragraph of book 1 I was hooked and in love and invested 100 percent in the characters. The only thing wrong was the man performing the story. I know its hard when a new person comes in but this was the worst transition for me. I couldn't tell Skullduggery apart from most of the other characters. Sanguine was utterly horrible and it took me out of the story every time. But looking forward I see there is a new person performing the rest if the books so here's hoping!
