Publisher's Summary

In this stunning sequel to her acclaimed debut My Brother's Keeper, number one national best-selling author ReShonda Tate Billingsley brings her real-deal insight to a heartfelt new novel about a wife and mother on a daring rescue mission - to save herself.

Freshly 45, Aja James knows that her life is good, complete with a loving, wealthy husband, well-adjusted children, and a beautiful home. Yet the truth is, she feels painfully unfulfilled, stuck in the present, haunted by a painful past. When a friend suggests a girls' trip to a tropical paradise, Aja hopes a change of scene will also change her perspective.

On vacation, filled with fun and freedom, Aja is relieved to find her spirits lifting. But her good time also shines a light on what's troubling her: from her siblings to her husband and kids, she's spent nearly her whole life taking care of everyone - except herself. She's lost her spark. She's lost her identity.

Desperate to turn things around, Aja makes an impulsive decision - one that outrages her family and stuns her friends. But it may also be her wisest choice. Because it's only through learning what she could lose - and what's truly worth keeping - that Aja can transform this temporary fix into real, lasting happiness.

Aja the Selfish

I simply hate Aja now. Disappointed her self-discovery was so selfish. I kept hoping that she would turn to God for Him to lead her, but she just turned within.

Very disappointed in this book

I am a caregiver for my husband and I was highly offended by the authors lack of research on the Topic. There are so many details that were missing from this story.

Good story

I liked the main character found happiness. Utopia is not what everyone thinks it will be.

Sad and depressing

This story and performances really draw you in but it's so sad. The main character is very selfish. I could not imagine doing what she did. I guess it is a cautionary tale about finding a mate you are compatible with and that cares about the things you care about.

Exhausting

I can't even stand it any more, at chapter 8 and i want to cut my wrist. I don't know if it'll get better from there but I just requested my credit back.

Hell, this is depressing the hell outta me!!

Till Death Do Us Part

Charles and Aja have a big house, money, good jobs, children in college, and friends, but are they happy? Neither one of them endeared themself to me as a favorite character. My least favorite character was the mother-in-law. The story had several oh yes moments. The lesson learned is there are many ways to happily ever after. A perfect ending to the first story My Brother's Keeper.
