Resumen del Editor

How far will you go to save someone you love and trust when they’ve kept a dangerous secret for years?

That’s the question facing Lance Kingston, a successful Houston magazine executive whose recent marriage to beautiful, high-powered attorney Tia Jiles seemed to promise a bright future for both of them. But under the surface, a fierce and frightening storm was brewing. That’s because Tia never revealed to Lance what she and her family have known since Tia was 17 - she has an illness that takes over her mind, transforming her into a raging, violent woman hell-bent on destruction. Bipolar disorder. Schizophrenia. Or crazy, as Lance’s grandmother continually reminds him.

“Crazy leaves clues,” she told him point-blank, and perhaps Lance should have listened. Tia’s mother tries to pray the problem away...and Tia’s doctors can’t help her if she won’t do what they advise. Now there’s more than their marriage and Tia’s survival at stake: Tia is pregnant, and Lance will stop at nothing to keep his troubled wife and unborn daughter safe. But at what price?

Any additional comments?

this book opens the door to some real life lessons, I know lots of black people who don't believe in depression and this is sad to say, but a lot of us are in a state of depression of some form or fashion and don't want to face the fact, til life gets to heavy to handle. We need to get with the program. Although the book was a bit on the young side for me, I think it could be a wake up call for a lot of younger women, I give this book an A

NOT YOUR SAME OLD LOVE STORY

This was excellent. The storyline was very original and the ending was not predictable. The story kept you guessing and wondering. This was a real story.
I applaud the author on going down a road rarely if ever traveled in story telling and keeping it realistic. No one narrates like Patricia Floyd as always she did an excellent job.

love it

I can relate to her. To a T, I am Bipolar and I go through the same issues everyday since I was a teenager. It's hard everyday and a blessing by the end of it to have survived another 24 hours. more books should be written like this. We like to know were5not alone.

Gets better with time

It took a long time to get to the meat of the storyline, but once it got there it was pretty interesting.

Well written book

Loved every page of this book. Mental Illness is very much real, and lots of people ignore the truth of the matter without getting help which always seems to compound. ReShonda Tate Billingsley is a very good novelist who writes real-life moments. Patricia Floyd is an excellent narrator who brings all the characters to life! Bravo 👏

The Secret She Kept

Listening to this book about bipolar disorder has put into greater perspective of the struggles individuals suffer with and their families. I only wish it could have turned out better for my mom who committed suicide 36 years ago and my ex-husband who chose to live in denial.

my life story

this is my life minus the secrecy. being bipolar is nothing to be ashamed of, or at least not anymore. I was raised by my grandmother so she did not believe in sharing issues with anyone outside of the house. and my dad is the sweep it under the rug kind of person and don't think about it. needless to say it took me yrs before I went to see a therapist but that was one of the best decisions I've ever made. being on the right medication and finding the right therapist has been my saving grace. I still have manic episodes from time to time but they are not as bad as they would be if I stop taking my medication.
the thing that ticks me off most times is when people label others as being bipolar or crazy just bc they don't act the way you think they should act.
mental health is a serious issue that needs to be talked about more often and stop sweeping it under the rug especially in black culture.

A Must Listen!!!!!

Great story line that addresses mental illness in the African American Community. I love the depth she goes into regarding the views of African Americans regarding mental illness. Everyone can relate to this book.
