Publisher's summary

"Elaine gifts us all with a beautifully intimate and powerful retelling of her ever-unfolding journey. In sharing her joys, pitfalls, adventures, self-doubt, and successes, she reminds us that through uncovering and discovering the many facets of ourselves, we are more than enough." (Yara Shahidi)

"Elaine’s book is a call for young women to find their voice and spark their courage - it's a book I would have loved to discover as a young woman starting my own career." (Reese Witherspoon)

In this part-manifesto, part-memoir, the revolutionary editor who infused social consciousness into the pages of Teen Vogue explores what it means to come into your own - on your own terms

Throughout her life, Elaine Welteroth has climbed the ranks of media and fashion, shattering ceilings along the way. In this riveting and timely memoir, the groundbreaking journalist unpacks lessons on race, identity, and success through her own journey, from navigating her way as the unstoppable child of a unlikely interracial marriage in small-town California to finding herself on the frontlines of a modern movement for the next generation of change makers.

Welteroth moves beyond the headlines and highlight reels to share the profound lessons and struggles of being a barrier-breaker across so many intersections. As a young boss and often the only Black woman in the room, she's had enough of the world telling her - and all women - they're not enough. As she learns to rely on herself by looking both inward and upward, we're ultimately reminded that we're more than enough.

Critic reviews

“[Elaine Welteroth’s] impressive career trajectory makes for fascinating reading, but what makes the book especially worthwhile is its depiction of an emergent social and political consciousness so strong that it eventually led her to abandon corporate media for the ‘joy of dancing into [an unknown] future.’ An inspiring memoir by a dynamic groundbreaker.” (Kirkus Reviews)

“The former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief opens up in this revealing memoir about growing up in California as the ambitious child of an ‘unlikely interracial marriage,’ only to become a boundary-breaking journalist - as she shared the lessons learned along the way.”(O, The Oprah Magazine)

More Than Enough is a guide for young people who want to find their voice, a crash course for those who want to challenge the status quo, and an adventure story for all of us. Young women can learn so much from Elaine's remarkable journey.” (Malala Yousafzai)

“Compelling...More Than Enough discusses race, identity, love, friendship, taking up space as a Black woman in a predominantly white workplace, and the meaning of success. As a change maker and young boss, Welteroth reminds young Black girls and women that they are, indeed, more than enough.”(Women’s Health)

Editor's Pick

Looking both inward and upward
"Elaine Welteroth’s new memoir, More Than Enough, is 100% what I hoped for from the legendary editor in chief of Teen Vogue. At just 31 years old, she was the youngest person ever to become the editor in chief of any Conde Nast publication. In her memoir, she’s relatable, inspiring, woke, and millennial AF, just like the magazine she steered through its celebrated reinvention. More Than Enough is full of insights on race and identity and also goes down smoothly, making it the perfect listen for an afternoon by the pool when you want to relax but also feel like you have, as Elaine puts it, 'this adult thing on lock.'"

Elaine in my heart.

I didn’t realize how much I would identify with Elaine’s story. Listening to her voice day after day she has crept her way into my heart. I admire her tenacity and effervescent spirit. To be close in age with Elaine and recognizing my own power and ability I began to believe at just 30 yes I am more than enough too. And my new favorite boss as chick word is intersection! 😇

This book was 100% on point

Elaine deserves all the accolades. She gave a voice to the little boys and girls that always shy away. She’s an amazing woman and I wish her the best. She a good mentor and fought for the voiceless.

Definitely recommend!

The stories in this book are relatable to me as well growing up in a Bay Area suburb and usually being the only black girl in mostly white spaces.

The way Elaine communicates her journey seems to come from a place full of self love and acceptance. I also appreciate her career ambition.

Since I’m in a place of accepting all of me and a career transition, I’ve gained a roadmap of alternative possibilities. It’s like getting a glimpse into a mindset and personal resources I can use for success.

I’d definitely recommend this audio also for the live conversation between Elaine and her parents at the end. For me, it was a another glimpse, this time into healthier parent child relationships.

Gave me renewed strength

I'm speechless. Phenomenal audio book and I'm so grateful I didn't miss out of the width and depth of each page all because I can't find the time to sit in one place and read like I use to. Thank you thank you for taking the time to make this an audio book and sharing not only your innermost tender details of tour life but also sharing your parents! They are lit!

Must Listen

I laughed, I cried, I was angry...There is so many emotions that come to life through the writing and reading of this book that you feel as if you are in Elaine’s living room with a glass of wine and she is telling you her story during “girl chat”. This book has an incredible message and it also sheds light to the realities of the behind the scenes of the people we see in the spotlight. The struggle is real but we are all “more than enough” to get through and get to the top!

Great Inspirational Read

Great inspirational read for women (especially young girls). Elaine was open and transparent about her life. I loved how she included both her faith and her parents in the narrative, which gave a few sneak peaks into how she was parented as a child, which led to where she is today. As a mother of three brown kids (7 year old girl, 6 year old boy & 7 month old boy), I am always interested in inspirational and motivational resources and mentors for me and my children. I’m proud of a Elaine’s accomplishments and the fact that her vision is to reach young folks using her platform. Keep up the excellent work Elaine 🙌🏽

This book gave me all the feels

First of all, I love her voice! This book is about a black woman finding herself and learning that she is in fact, more than enough! She is relatable and inspiring. I appreciate her vulnerability. Lastly, her big curly hair is gorgeous!
