Publisher's summary

The illegal Monster Hunt app has definitely done a number on Chase Knowles’ life, transforming him from a down-on-his-luck musician to the Alpha of two incredible Huntresses. Along with his bandmate Iris, the group has taken New York City by storm, hunting and brawling in the city’s landmarks and hard-to-reach spaces.

But there is more to the Monster Hunt app than catch or sell. An exclusive world known as EverLife presents new challenges, new adventure, and a mystery that none have been able to solve. It also presents new foes.

Warning: Monster Hunt NYC contains a light harem with monster girls, augmented reality, fantasy violence, a ton of action, and GameLit/LitRPG concepts. It was inspired by the Persona games, Pokemon Go!, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Enjoyable but short

I'm really enjoying these Sound Booth Theater productions. They're fun, different from a regular audiobook and better produced than Audible studios stuff usually. This one progressed the story but was kind of a half story. Not too big on cliffhangers but I enjoyed getting to where it ends. Hopefully, after getting this section of the story out of the way the next will have more meat to it.

Great Book! Excited for the next one!

This doesn't disappoint. The voice acting is on point. The story is great. The character development tracks. Extremely happy with this, and the next one will be an insta-purchase.

Love the story

Please oh please pronounce ukulele correctly, I cringe every time you say it. Other than that I really love everything about these books and your performance.

great book minus a few quirks

overall I enjoyed the book. harem trope aside and the music segments that seemed like practice sessions passed off as great performances, the concept of the world is what kept me interested. I enjoyed the game mechanics and the game world and the nuanced "everyday life technology". something I value most in a book is one that gets me to actually pause and think. the way these characters interact with the real world had me day dreaming constantly about what it would be like to live in the world described.

as for the narration, soundbooth audio knocks it out of the park. some of their projects in the past have struggled with balance between narration and music/sound effects. i think at this point they've mastered their craft as far as production is concerned. Jeff & Annie have mastered their voice a long long time ago and they're no complaints in their performances. actually having listened to a lot of their narrations, it was fun for me to hear iconic voices from other stories come back. albeit It's not intentional on behalf of the narrators and maybe some people may find it distracting but for me it was a sense of familiarity of characters long gone surfacing for just a small bit that nostalgia kicks in.

can't wait to hear the next installment. if you don't mind the very few critiques I mentioned, the book is entertaining and going strong in Harmons little world. I would recommend

Good so far

Well written and well preformed. This book continues the story of Chase and Iris as an alpha duo. The repeated theme of music leading to a few interesting discoverys by the main cast. Please keep this story alive, I need more.

continuation of a great audiobook

Jeff and Annie continue to really knock it out of the park. they just bounce back and forth (in a good way) and really flesh out the various characters. the special effects for the various sounds really draw you in and encourage you to really imagine everything to be done. no spoilers, but Dalton is amazing :)

Pretty cool experience.

I like the story and narrators. Having music for the songs is nice too. The background music is very distracting, though. And it's even worse if you listen to books at higher speeds. The book would be way more enjoyable without it. Luckily it's not always on. Overall I really like the sound effects.

So good....

I so love this series. So funny and off the beaten path. I loved lady c in the first book, while she is still good, she is a bit more whiney. Dalton was great and I look forward to hearing more of him. Hurry with number three please.

Worth the wait

The music and the actor performances are the best. Both books just feel so lively. It makes the rest of the books I listen to feel dull.
